Is this the year for Chicago?

I have to say, I'm the biggest ChiSox supporter in the group. I was listening to David Locke today and he was sayin' this team is like the '84 Tigers with Gibson and Evans...I don't remember that team so I don't really understand the reference. The only thing I did get out of it was that Detroit won the title in 84.

I have to say this is the best rotation the Sox have had since the days of Black Jack McDowell, Greg Hibbard, Wilson Alvarez, and Jason Fernandez. With Conteras, Garland, Buerle and El Duque, and Freddy, this group is pretty darn good. The bats are a concern and talking to baseball experts last night (Jim and Jordan) that the Sox shot all their weapons last night. Perhaps that is true. Konerko and Dye are the main weapons. They have a lot of role players that I didn't notice until the Cleveland series. This showed me some heart going into Cleveland and sweep the favored Tribesmen.

I won't the say the Sox are going to win the World Series. They have an uphill battle with the BoSox. They had a good start last night. They have the pitching but do they have the bats. I think the same story goes for Houston. Great pitching but questionable bats.

Well I should go back and teach...Any comments will be greatly appreciative.

Welcome aboard Dude...after said conversation was had last night, I went in and watched a little Baseball Tonight were they broke down, not so much Chicago's hitting, but the softball pitches that Clement was throwing...I'm not going to call out a guy who got reamed in the face with a 100mph ball back through the box, but I think its safe to say the guy hasn't been the same sense...that being said, I think Wells, Schilling and Wakes all bring big time post-season experience to the table for the next 3 games, and I also wouldn't rule out that if this goes to 5 we don't see Arroyo in game 5, who I think still has more post-season experience than Clement...still, even if the BoSox go down 0-2 going back to Boston, I would still be concerned if I'm a southside fan

Well with my 2 cents I just see the baseball gods somehow cursing the country with another Sox, Yanks duel. We might have just seen the Chisox exhust there bats in game one. I mean come on kids save some runs for games 4 and 5. as much as I want to see the Chisox win and I think they do have the bats to compete in every game. I have to agree with Jimbo and the fact that post season pitching experiance might be the factor that keeps the Bosox going.

I agree that Boston has got the mojo...sorry I used that term. But I don't see their pitching as strong as last year. Wells, yes, Wakefield - yes, and Arroyo - yes, but Schilling and Clement as last night showed are liabilities. I wouldn't be surprised if the BoSox/Yankee series rears it's ugly head because it's a great baseball rating jolt for FOX but how about a change of pace once in a while.

Party Peeps, the ChiSox started off well in that series, but I can't see them sustaining that kind of run support throughout the series. Wakefields knuckler just wasn't moving enough and that happens every once in a while -- but if Schilling can pitch like he did in his last two outings, then Chicago has a problem.

Were you guys watching how they almost made a worse choke-job than the Angels in '95? They were terrible down the stretch, and I just don't see them keeping any consistancy.

Pitching and defense win championships. Short, sweet and to the point

Well Justice League...The Sox showed tremendous heart and determination last night. Thanks to a costly error by Tony G. (former White Sox) - The Sox are in command of this series. Although thanks to last year and check out the daily quickie on ESPN...the idea of gimmies are out of the question for baseball thanks to the IDIOTS. Well I'm out for now...but let me know what you all think!

Let me just throw this down...if the series is tied up going back to Chicago...who has the advantage...and let me also say that last night was the first time I ever felt sorry for Bubba Wells...it reminded me of a few whiffle games this year~translation: baseball games are won and lost on the ability to not give the other team bonus outs...let us just say that it wasn't on the same level, but Tony G. will be synonomous with Bill B. if the BoSox lose this series...

I think we need to give a game ball to the Little Tadahito Iguchi this guy is my kind of player. the guy has some key put outs in the game and comes up huge with a 3-run homer. Sad thing is we still are going to see a 2-2 series tie in Chicago Monday night.

I have to agree with Jimbo...Poor bubba wells. They were comparing Tony G's error on the radio (Soup Campbell) to the Buckner error. But can it be in the same category as Buckner's. The team had a lead in the Series back in 86 and this year's team was down. True they had the lead in the game but who knows what would have happened. This weekend should be interesting. How about the Stros and Braves series? Can either one of these teams contend with the Mighty Cards?

Chew on that!

So, I wrote that post before the Sox/Sox game two battle. Turns out the BoSox have no chance now -- of course, that was said of them a year ago when they were down 0-3 to the Yankees in the ALCS -- so, we can't count them out totally.

Yeah, but that was a team w/ Pedro and a healthy Schilling and a stong pen... I see none of that this year.
