Am I imagining things or does Pedro Gomez moonlight as a singer when he isn't covering Barry Bonds?
I know it's a stretch but it was the first thing I thought about when I saw the picture. For the record, I don't watch "American Idiol" or Pedro Gomez's reports....
41 Comments:
Yeah, he does look like Pedro. Of course his picture is now plastered over every CNN YAHOO and MSN web site instead of the hot chick.
The Lodges American Idol would be a hot chick with
1) Big Yabos
2) The ability to discuss the benefits of not having the DH in the NL
3) Someone who can rip on 2.0 and Jaynee in the same breath.
Is that too much to ask?
Sounds like a dream!
Let the Search begin....
I really don't have anything to comment on Idol, but it is glad to see Dude make his quarterly post...welcome back big fella...
I think what we should be talking about is LOST....
you're f'n right about that Train...great finale last night, but for our Lodge brethern that aren't up to speed, I'll reserve this for pub talk...
in my excitement I overlooked the fact that half the Lodge is behind the times.. This is borderline grounds for excommunication.
We will discuss at length friday night after Whiffle...
You gotta love the way that every time they give one big answer, it just leads to 10 more questions...
Here's a season 3 teaser from Damon Lindelof:
(about the theme for season 3): 'Us versus Them.' But who's the 'us,' and who's the 'them'?
Do you think that Henry was telling the truth when he said they were the "good guys"?
for those of us who are only 12 episodes into season 1, please refrain from Lost conversation.
or at least disclaimer the blog. I'm getting into it. I aleady have a ruined moment by seeing claire with her baby in a lost commercial.. She is currently missing and kidnapped in season 1.
apparently she us going to survive
It is imperative that you take your "Lost" viewing up a notch. This 12 episodes in talk will not stand man...
Tell you what Pemco boy. Why dont you stop by and babysit my 5 and 2 year old Gosslings for the next 46+ hours while I catch up.....Wait...on second thought, never mind. You might (and probably will) creep them out
Also to set the record straight. I am not Mr ANONYMOUS that keeps ripping on Joe. But I like the way he/she thinks.
THE ANONYMOUS is always present, vowing to strike down Joe at a moments notice...
Its like Joe 2.0 has his own little Blog stalker.
Rock on ANONYMOUS!!!!
Although, me being ANONYMOUS (and claiming that I am not) would be the greatest snow job since Palpatine/Sideous.
Maybe Joe should have seen it coming.
Of course I not ANONYMOUS.
or am I?
Lets do the math,
Season 1 is about 18 hours long on DVD (45 minutes per episode for 24 episodes). You're 12 episodes in, so you have 9 hours left for season 1.
The season ended a YEAR ago, and the DVD's have been out for nearly 9 months. If you had just pulled off 3 episodes a month (2 Hours and 15 minutes out of 720 available hours) since the discs came out you'd already be done with that set.
Besides, kids = no social life. So it's not like you have somewhere to be, right?
:)
I just like that Joe has a nemesis...it kind of reminds me of the Janitor from "scrubs"
Good call on the Janitor from Scrubs.
And MCP. I just started watching last Monday, So cut me a little slack.
When your life revolves around more than just the latest comic Book symposium or Serenity fan club meeting, give me a call.
Hahaha I had to get a Serenity shot in....its been a while
Hopefully you can get through some episodes this extended weekend Goose. You won't be disappointed.
Can you get season 2 episodes yet? online - IPOD?
Where's Chewbacca?
All I'm going to say is that I haven't checked out the blog in quite awhile and was looking forward to hearing a few Lost theories. And what do I get? American Idol.
Hey, you're the one living with the man.
I guess we have to hold off on the LOST talk until the Lodge is caught up on the show otherwise Goose will start to cry and throw things.
Here's a roundtable question... (don't look goose!)
This hadn't occured to me, but I've since heard multiple people raise this question:
"Do you think Kelvin is really dead"?
RAMIREZ!!!
yep Clancy is Dead....
Joe, don't you have an awards show fashion commentary to write?
And no, I don't think he is. It seemed like he went down just a little too easily.
So if he's alive...where is he? Did he get off the island?
I've read a theory that hypothesizes that Kelvin got off the island and came in contact with Penelope (after spending 3 years w/Desmond, he would have heard all about her). He filled her in about the electro magnet and what not, and she decided to look for him (Certainly she has the kind of cash to fund a couple of russian guys sitting in a bunker)
Kennish, I didn't watch the awards show & haven't seen that there L.O.S.T. show yet.
MCP...it was Portuguese, not Russian, but easy to get confused...and how'd he get off the Island when Dez took off for the cruiser right after the Hatch was opened ... I think the whole thing is a Genesis-type project...amongst other things...
It's actually not my theory...I'm in the camp that Kelvin is dead...
Interesting note: During the last scene when the Portuguese guys notice the computer blinking it lists the number 7418880 and says something like "Electromagnetic Anommaly Detected"
That number is 4 x 8 x 15 x 16 x 23 x 42
WARNING I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT SEASON 2...well...can't every number on LOST be broken down to some derivitive of the 'numbers?'...I actually don't want Kelvin to be dead, I'd love to see Clancy be a semi-regular along w/ Dez...that would officially make Lost the greatest show ever, even if we're just rating all-time TV that-guys/girls...also, I think the writers will bring him back, for nothing else, but to have the confrontation between him and Sayid...
Closing thoughts on the season since I don't want to do this in a post...I give the season a 3.6-3.7 out of 4...
What I liked:
*great opening and closing episodes...opening of the hatch and potential 'closing?' of the hatch...
*add-on characters: Dez and Eko immediately becoming two of the most watchable characters with great back-stories...even Muchacha and the rest of the 'Tailies' brought something to the table...including Bernard
*development of Hugo and especially his 2nd backstory including a great 'that-guy' cameo
*killing off Shannon
*back-stories that brought it:
1) Jack (#1) "man of science, man of faith"
2) Eko (#1) "The 23rd Psalm" best episode of the Season
3) Sawyer "The Long Con"
4) Sayid "One of Them"
5) Hurley "Dave"
6) Desmond "Live Together, Die Alone"
What I didn't Like:
*the development of Charlie and Locke, I'm guessing this is on purpose, but feels like they're slowly writing them both out of the equation
*where the f' is the 'monsta'
*not taking the opportunity to have a sex-scene between Hugo/Libby...I kid
Not a whole lot I can bitch about, Lindelof and Cuse do an excellent job of pacing for the 41 min sections...I like not knowing and having 4 or 5 possible scenerio's play out...I thought after the first 1/4 lull they picked up quite well...and timed 23 Psalm just right...now, next year if you could just do the whole season in 30 weeks instead of 40...
It sounds like they're going to do season 3 in two halves. The first half will run straight from October through December. Then the show will be in reruns or be replaced for a couple of months before starting up another 12 episode run until the end of the season.
The Charlie development is a tough one...I didn't like it for the most part, but after the last episode I'm completely fascinated by what he's not saying.
Locke on the other hand I found to be fascinating. I liked that his faith faltered...I think it's going to make him a much more interesting character next season
I guess you just don't want to see good characters wasted, but your right...I think it's a complete setup for both of them...I just personally didn't like the direction they took...I also didn't like Michael's character, but understood that it was necessary to the story...
I actually dug Michael's story...for me, his was the most shocking twist.
So let me ask this...
At the end of the episode, right before the others put the bags over Jack & Kate's head they give each other a really strange look, that seems to even confuse Sawyer. Do you think they're planning something?
Fair enough MCP...your just a weird guy about backstories...anyway, I barely remember the look...I'd hate to see them try and get into some sort of 'fight club' squirmish (which I don't think will happen)...anyway...I'm not sure they were clever enough to plan all Michael taking them somewhere else...I think the look was more based upon Henry's appearance as the head guy (which really wasn't a shock)...I'm not sure how they're going to develop that story-line...I wouldn't mind seeing the three of them become 'others' and maybe disappearing for a couple episodes, but we'll see...
not sure if you check out the Numbers Forum but some good stuff..especially about last night and the "look"
Actually, I just thought that Sawyer was pissed because she was looking at Jack - ala the love triangle. But I agree that the look was really strange, especially Kate's extra long blink.
And the thing that I thought was the most strange was that no one bothered to go over to the hatch and check it out. The hatch door comes flying out of nowhere and almost kills Claire, and they just go on like nothing really happened and don't bother to explore? I'm curious about why Charlie's not talking, but everyone else's behavior seems totally bizzare. Including what felt to me like a totally random and kind of fake kiss from Claire. Maybe a side effect of the electromagnetic overload?
GENETIC MUTATION BEGINS!!!...really just a clever way of fusing Marvel and ABC...don't forget about the four-toed statue now
There HAS to be something very wrong with Charlie.
I found it odd, that after lighting the smoke signal, Sayid, Jin, and Sun were back on the boat.
I wonder if there was a lapse in time that the show hasn't revealed yet.
If you recorded "Lost" go back and re-watch the look...I really think there's something there.
....oh yeah, and what the f**k was up with that bird thing?
one theory kicking around is that it's an "Atlantis" -type place...but that's just crazy talk...and the bird was pulled straight from those f'n Harry Potter flix...
Goddamned Harry Potter....
So...why Jack, Kate & Sawyer?
My first thought would be that they wanted to remove the strongest people from the group, but why not Jack, Sayid & Locke? Or Jack, Eko & Locke?
could be infection-based...I think that's the developing and driving story for next season...which is why I dig the show...you can develop this thing out for miles...good material for a least several more seasons, unlike other former mystery shows, i.e. X-Files
