RIP: NFL PRIMETIME 1987-2006
After working last Sunday and missing out on most of the NFL action I thought I would fix myself a sidecar (new drink of choice) and watch some NFL Primetime with Berman and TJ. I mean wouldn’t it be like it has been for the last 19 years?
Come to find out that NBC got the rites for a show called Football Night in America. I’m sure you all know this. The show is hosted by Mr. Bob Costas whom in my book can over dramatize anything to a point of laugh ability. Though the man has a great speaking voice and is a genuine baseball guru. After searching all eight ESPN channels in a frantic search for primetime I happened upon "Football night". I almost vomited on my couch with the likes of Chris Collinsworth and Jerome Bus Bettis providing commentary of the day’s action. HORRIBLE, NBC, HORRIBLE. Costas reviews the Hawks game and mentions the officiating of SB XL and Bettis Chimes in “well I got the ring”. First off I wanted to leap with all my ability and slap the be Jesus out of Bettis but then it sunk in, this type of interaction would never happen with TJ and Boomer. I don't think I will be able to watch this show at all. This is in no way a reflection of the Sunday night game hosted by Madden and Michaels. The recap show is it's own beast and should be put down like a rabid animal for the sake of all NFL fans.
I later found out that on the 8pm Sunday night Sport center TJ and Boomer with offer a condensed version of the NFL Primetime we all know and love. It’s now called the NFL Blitz. I’m getting old and I long for the days of NFL Primetime, Monday night football on ABC and the IBM you make the call TV commercials. I just wanted to pay a tribute to the NFL post game show that revolutionized the landscape and took ESPN to the next level. Oh, and it had TJ one of the most beloved Broncos on the planet. I have to admit I never thought the undersized LB from Louisville would have made the leap to TV but he did and is a solid contributer to the game still to this day.
Good Night Primetime. You had a nice run and the Lodge members are better NFL fans for it.

best part of Primetime...the Soundtrack...I think I'm going to get that for Train for Christmas or Hanakauh...
The best part about the soundtrack for me was the fact it never changed over 19 years. If it ain't broke...
Speaking of Soundtracks, here's a little Trivia:
The orchestral pieces heard in Sunday night football were written by John Williams.
I hate NBC...that crew they've established is the pre-game show for the coming Apocolypse...even Sir John Williams can't save them...
I will have to admit that I really dig the actual Sunday Night Football broadcast itself. I love that they'll be able to promote particular matchups to the Sunday night slot as the season progresses. So, unlike Monday night football you won't be stuck with something like a Green Bay game in the middle of December.
Ah, Jayne all the late of the year night games are subject to change. So we won't be stuck with a Green Bay game on Monday night. I just thought you should now this so you can stop spreading disinformation
I just wishing you weren't such a lying tramp...
OK, now Jayne says I am lying can we get Paul McGurie to sort this out for us?
Hey, I just like listening to Al Michaels and John Madden. So I'm more excited about the Sunday Night games this NFL season than the MNF games. Plus, Theismann is a moron.
In a nutshell: Sunday night games can be changed because they're just delaying the start time a few hours. Plus NBC worked that into their deal with the NFL. There are certain restrictions (Only certain games are eligible, particularly w/games on CBS)
Monday night games can NOT be changed because it involves moving the game to a different night on extremely short notice. MNF doesn't have anything like this in their contract.
...punk.
Maguire: I want you to stop the tape right there...stop...you see that...you see the way Warren Sapp allowed the running back to just walk by...that's how great Warren Sapp is... Theisman: I don't know that Warren Sapp isn't the greatest life-form in this universe...thank you, I'll be here all week
