Roundhouse Kick To The Face!

So I have to admit....I am struggling with my lack of access to the internets lately with the new job, and I don't want to make any excuses....so what is everyone else's excuse? Does everyone else have limited access to the internets? Is there nothing going on that's worth talking about? What about the Sonics' arena? ...the viaduct/tunnel/hybrid? ...the University of Washington's potential seeding in the NIT? (That's right Jimbo...pushing buttons, just like I always do.) Maybe we are all just wound a little too tightly these days...

All the movie geeks around here and not one comment on the Oscars? Are we all just waiting for 2.0? I'll admit, I'm half afraid to post anything about movies here sometimes, because I look at movies a little less critically than some of my fellow Lodgemates. Was it entertaining? 'check' ...okay, pretty good movie then. The question then becomes...do I try and actually 'review' a movie or should I just stick to my guns and tell everyone that they suck because they don't think that 'American Flyers' was one of Kevin Costner's greatest performances? My answer? C'mon Shawn...stop being a wuss and show some backbone...stick to the guns and flip them the bird. (Speaking of movies...did we ever get to see MCP's top 3?)

Last Monday, as the night wore on and on....we inevitably began discussing the Sonics arena idea. Needless to say, a heated topic after a few pints. I mention this only because the other heated topics included burned out rock stars (a.k.a. - Police Reunion tour), bowling equipment, the hot mom factor and Elvis' hairstyle. Does this mean that we had too many pints? Possible, but for this purpose, no. This tells me that there is a lot of passion in The Lodge, and while the passion is occasionally associated with important stuff....it's usually the less important stuff that is the most fun to talk about. So, let's stop taking ourselves so seriously. Maybe we need to reunite with the less important stuff a little....that might resurrect things a bit. Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? ....that is the whole point.

Well played Shawn...

I myself have been more swamped than usual, which has limited my posting ability. I really do need to try to get back into movie/comics/pop culture posts again.
(For the record "Reno 911: Miami" was funny as hell, and is worth seeing if you dig that kind of humor).

As for the rest of Jayne's top 10, I never did get around to the top 3, so here they are:

3. Casino Royale
2. Superman Returns
1. Pan's Labyrinth

I'm studying for my LEED AP exam next Tuesday....so I too am swamped. I have a hard time posting sometimes because I treat each one like it's a masterpiece....so today, I tried something different...and it took me just a couple minutes.

My only concern with Reno 911:Miami is that I have seen the entire movie by the time I see the extended trailer...

That definately isn't the case. The flick very proudly earns it's 'R' Rating and pushes it as far as they can.

There's a lot of great cameo's as well that they've hidden from their marketing. The only one I'll give away is that this film marks the first time the entire cast of "The State" have appeared together since their last show in 1996 (keep your eyes open any time they're in a tatoo parlor).

Man, I can't believe I'm agreeing with Casey on the #1 movie last year. Wow. Yes, it's true... Pan's Labyrinth was my favorite movie of 2006 also.

Just got back from Cali yesterday. No report from the 626, but the trip was a nice vacation for the Elenbaas Family. And we are now happily back home with our puppy and unhappily back at work.

Umm... way to bring the party down, Shawn... "Party over here!"

Did anyone buy tickets to the Lebowski Fest at the Showbox? If others go, I'll get in for the good of the Lodge.

Hey now....I saw "626" and "home" in the same statement from you and the rest is history.

You lob it up there and I'm gonna knock it out big guy.

way to bring the priorities back home CTown...maybe this will change the topic for tomorrow...if what you say is true regarding Reno 911 then I'll enjoy...speaking of old school state actors...I found this yesterday, and proceeded to laugh my ass off...

After finding a lot of the old clips on The Tube...there's also another David Wain movie coming out this summer...for anyone that was a fan of Wet Hot American Summer, this is a good thing...
