Time Flies When You're...Doing What Exactly?

All joking aside....it's been too long, as pointed out so eloquently by Mr. Two-point-Zero. Thank you sir. So, I am approaching the end of a vicious cycle of schooling...and I contemplate what one could possibly post about these days. What I'm confronted with is an astonishingly overwhelming amount of material that we should be going over.....and yet it seems that we are all too busy?

No mention of some extremely good sports related topics...do we talk about the potential revitalization of the Sonics (aside from the #2 overall draft pick)? David Beckham's medical "advice"? What about a Mariners team that just played 36 games in 37 days....and came out with a pretty damn decent 20-16 record? How about the fact that the Seahawks finally said goodbye to Mr. Kelly Herndon? Not one mention of King James' going completely off the handle and carrying his team to the Finals? What about the fact that it seems possible to receive a red-card at Safeco now? Not even the obligatory Stanley Cup goes to California story? It's not even quite the dog days of summer just yet...and now that I am just about out of excuses since I'm finally finishing school....I will make it my duty to provide a venue for discussion on some of these vital community topics.

Seriously though, about what seems like a friggin' month ago (oh wait, it actually was) I was lucky enough to participate in the finals of the Bigger Dance...as you are all aware. I know...old old news. I have to say though, that it was a ton of fun to meet up with some of the guys that I listen to on the radio everyday. Melissa and I hit up the Acme Bowl for the final four party, and upon my arrival I immediately realize that my picks are completely toast...and the dream is over. So I proceed to do what any self-respecting finalist that is in the process of getting his ass kicked would....I start to take advantage of my 15 minutes...
Needless to say, these guys are a ton of fun in person. On this particular Friday night, everyone is already well on their way to being righteously lubricated. Mitch Levy...what can I say? I think the guy is great. He is an ass...and that's what people like about him. In person though, at his own party...the guy was awesome. He introduced us to Steve Sandmeyer, who we ended up hanging with for the majority of the night. Steve proceeds to guy Melissa and I beers all night long.....and we BS'd on just about everything....until the topic of "that guy that picked Shakira to win it all" came up. At which point some other people overheard what we were talking about.....and remembered hearing my comments on the radio that morning....and pretty soon, it is a "that-guy-that-picked-Shakira-to-win-it-all Bashfest". (Train, you'll be happy to know that I left your name out of it completely....and that most everyone just started throwing other friends that made awesome picks down the stairs.) Sandmeyer then took it upon himself to go and get a Sharpie to make a little sign....because he had an addition for the picture that I wanted to take.....the addition? The homemade sign that he is holding in this glorious picture of my wife and I with Steve & Mitch.
And with that....Seatown makes his return to The Lodge...and apologizes profusely for his absence. I vow to make at least a couple posts each week, I can bring that...maybe even more, and hopefully the content is up to par. I also promise to never post about any hotel heiresses, washed up pop stars in rehab or wannabe actresses that do stupid shite just to be on TV.

I am pumped for The Black Lodge Invitational tomorrow at Bushwood....should be a lot of fun....even if it decides to rain....I'm sure the hard stuff won't come down until the 18th.

Bringing back the pic & busting out some topics. On those topics, I love the Sam Presti hire for the Sonics. He's the first GM I've been excited for a Seattle sports team since Pat Gillick was working his magic for the M's.

(Of course, even brilliant managing and landing Durant won't be able to keep Bennett from moving the team. Clay Bennett has officially passed Bill Bavasi on the list of guys I'd like to kick the crap out of.)

And as far as the Safeco Field thing... the Mariners organization as a whole has always been a group of ultra-conservative, play it "too close to the vest" douchebags when it comes to getting rowdy at the ballpark. Nothing wrong with talking a little sh!t, it's part of the game.
