16 million in guaranteed money means minus the bonus its 8 years 46 million. Just under 6 mill a year.
Realistically he has 5 good years left. 5*6mill=30 plus 16. Its a 5 year 46 million contract and the Hawks are not tied down. I think it was a class move by Shawn and a good move for the organization.
I'd like to see the yearly breakdown. I'll bet years 5 6 7 8 and 9 are loaded with Salary
I'm really glad to see that he came in just under Hasselbeck and Jones as far as guaranteed money. Awhile back he was quoted as saying, "No comparison. Nobody has done what I have done." when asked about those two guys.
I'm glad to see Ruskell get this done w/o it lingering...I don't think there is anyone that can come in next season and give you the same type of production you are counting on, which also minimizes the amount of plays that #8 would've been forced to make w/o Moses...I think if you get 3 more quality (1500+ 10-15td) then the contract was worth it
Well, technically it's $15 million guaranteed -- not a $15 million bonus. So basically the deal is an average of $7.6 million a year (since signing bonuses still cost a cap hit, I read that somewhere this year).
But the deal is great because, Seattle gets to run him out there as an MVP for a few more years until we then -- cut him (after his guaranteed money is off the books) as a "former MVP" since the rest of the deal isn't guaranteed. Goose hit the nail on the head... I wonder if we'll see where the money is loaded and if it's at the back end.
Great to hear that they got it done. It was only a matter of time before Shaun realized his best payday was here in the NW. $15+ is a number that wont break the team. We basically get to run him till his legs fall off. Matty H won't have to overproduce to compinsate for losing Shaun. Hawks can make another run. Then they will retire his jersey and Shaun can go off and preach with Casey Treat.
I have to say the NFL landscape is going to be like the other side of the moon next year. I haven't seen a purge like this since order 66 went out across the galaxy.
"I haven't seent a purge like this since order 66 went out across the galaxy" ...sigh...I want to throw some casuality names out there to see if anyone would like to see them in blue and green next year:
*I. Bruce *DE: Brady Smith(I think this would be a huge FA signing)Trevor Pryce *CB: Eric Warfield/Dexter McCleon/Denard Walker/Sam Madison *DT: Ted Washington, Brentson Buckner *LB: Chris Claiborne, Na'il Diggs, Shawn Barber *S: Lawyer Milloy(Lodge Fav)
C: Kevin Mawae DT: Sam Adams / La'Roi Glover LB: LaVar Arrington
Of all the names, bringing the Dawg home in Milloy would be economical and fill a need at S. ESPN is reporting that Eric Moulds still might get released from the Bills if he doesn't restructure his current deal. Mould would be the perfect fit for the Hawks if he does indeed get cut due to Seattle's need for a burner at wideout.
I don't think Arrington or Adams is a good fit, and I don't think you mess with the OLine at this point...La'Roi might not be a bad choice, but I think Buckner is the best overall choice at the position, I think you go after Buckner or B. Smith and definitely get Milloy in the secondary...
and I like Moulds a lot and think he would up the ante on the Offense to a whole new level, but I didn't think he was much of a speed guy? My only critique is that he is basically another version of DJax, which wouldn't be that bad...Jax, Moulds, Engram...I'll take those three...
I like 37 coming back, but I'm goin' to keep sayin' it...he still needs to improve on the little things. Blocking, receiving to name two. I think they wouldn't get someone else in here that would produce or know the offense as well as 37...so good job front office...you continue to impress. I think I yelled out louder when I saw the Shaun story than any Oscar buzz or presentation...

I like the contract.
Couple of reasons
