Lost of a childhood icon...and remembering Saturday Mornings
You young pups may not have notices this. But anyone 30-40 years old who grew up in the world of Sid and Marty Kroft are mourning the loss of Actor Jack Wild. Best known for playing the Artful Dodger as a teenager in the 1968 film Oliver, most of us recognize him as Jimmy from the childrens show H.R. Pufnstuf
H.R. Pufnstuf was about a young English boy named Jimmy and Freddie, his magic talking golden flute. The pair find themselves trapped on the Enchanted Living Island and pursued by Witchiepoo. The witch is determined to have the magical flute for herself. H.R. Pufnstuf, a lovable yellow dragon in cowboy attire and mayor of the island, is just as determined to help Jimmy escape
I started flashing back to the way things were. Saturday Mornings used to be an event. It was a 7am wake up call. It was a bowl full of Fruit Loops or Cap'n Crunch, and then it was a 3 to 4 hour Marathon into the World of Scooby Doo, Johnny Quest, Hong Kong Phooey and the Superfreinds.
The pinacle of the morning was Sid and Marty Kroft and the Kroft Superstars.
Sigmund the Seamonster,H.R. Pufnstuf, and of Course Land of the Lost.
Add in the side fact that most of my education when it comes to History, Government and Counting was given to me by School House Rock
As your body grows bigger
Your mind grows flowered
It's great to learn
Cause knowledge is power!
It's Schoolhouse Rocky
That chip off the block
Of your favourite schoolhouse
Schoolhouse Rock!
This was the Golden age of Saturday Mornings. Ive woken up with my kids on a Saturday Morning. Nothing comes close to the event.
The death of a Saturday morning icon like Jack Wild stood as a reminder that the world changes, and the grass will never feel the same, the popsicles never as tasty, and the Saturday mornings never as memorable as it was when you were a child.
Gooses Hall of Fame Friday post is dedicated to Jack Wild. The 1st inductee to the unofficial Saturday Morning HOF lineup.
Happy Friday all. Hopefully your weekend will find you many trips to the Spirit World. "DID YOU SEE THE SIZE OF THAT......CHICKEN?????"

Goose are you trying to take over my role as lead euligizer and insperational guru?
You mean Head Sap?
good post Goose...I can say that I've never seen an episode of HR, but I do relate my own experience with Saturday morning, which for me was actually weekday mornings waiting for GI Joe and Transformers w/ a side of Go-Bots...good times, and I think I'm still in the spirit world from last night
Bringing back the memories Jimmy..
I remember waking up around 6am watching a power hour of GI JOE/Thundercats.. Then moving on to Loony Toons followed up with some ALF and Teen Wolf.
Just me my sister and a bowl of cheerios.
Dude, I loved the Land of the Lost! That show was awesome. Dinosaurs are like crack to elementary school boys.

Or how about i take it even more old skool for all the 80's babies... Pinwheel + Fragglerock = Crazy Delicious
SWEET - Back when Nickelodeon had quality programming... Pinwheel was the Sh*t.
Fraggle Rock was also a fav. I was a huge fan of the underrated DOZERS - the little green guys who built little skyscrapers down in the caves. I thought they needed there own show. Strange that the show was on HBO.
