Heroin Junkies, Meth Addicts, and the USSR

This is my car basically. A 95 red Honda Civic -except for the wheels. I got up and walked to my car this morning. The windows were fogged up from the cold. My seat was reclined all the way back, my glove box was open and the papers were shuffled everywhere. This is the second time this week my car has been broken into. Every year Seattle is ranked in the top 10 for auto theft in the nation. In 2004 the estimated total value of loss from auto theft crime was $40 million in Seattle. From what I can tell all the people who bust into cars on Capitol Hill are tweakers and junkies, they have clean access with master keys for Hondas and don't leave a scratch on the key locks. If your car is over $30k its probably Russkies. My cousins Dodge Ram 15000 got stolen and found in Kent yesterday. Kent is the new Stalingrad.

The Seattle Police are completely useless when it comes to patrolling. They suggest really smart things on their tips section of the auto theft site. Don't leave your keys in your car, don't leave your doors unlocked.

I am super pissed. But my car is not stolen at this point, although it was through two attempts because the club which looked as though it was tampered with this morning in my car but tottally effective. I'm going to buy an alarm later today though, since i'm obviously being targeted now for every last scrap of stuff in my car. They stole my stereo on Tuesday, I think they came back for the remotes this morning and tried to find more goodies. I'm missing my favorite hat. frikkin fags....

perhaps you should wait inside your car and show them the "goat"...anyway...sorry to hear it Duke...I've (knocking on wood) only had to experience one car break-in and it sucks, and my experience with the cops was the same:

"do you have any of the serial numbers from the items that were stolen?...well...I'm glad you asked, because I was getting annoyed that I was memorizing 24 digit numbers for no reason"....

Sorry to hear about that Duke. I just hope that your experience with PEMCO claims is a good one if and when you decide to file a claim. - I gotta tow the company line there...

Kent is home to more Russian chop shops then meth labs now. I tell you this now when you are in Kent keep away from any one who looks slavic driving next to you. They have a habit of hitting you then sueing you for injuries.. I Sh*t you not. They had a racket going on for years. Finally the ring leaders got nailed and sent up to Monroe.

I think the Kent chamber of commerace should think about making a play for getting DUSKWATCH filmed there. They already have the setting and the people to make it look like downtown Moscow..

If I know anything I know Kent.

Sorry to hear about the breaking. The nest was broken into once and it totally feels like a violation.

That blows.....my old Toyota 4-Runner was broken into a couple times and actually STOLEN once, and it was dumped up on Capitol Hill. That's when I came to find out that the old Toyota pickups (1980's) had a grand total of something like 6 KEYS made for them.....meaning some jackass can walk around with that few keys on a keychain and just keep trying until one of them works. Since the Honda Civic & Accord are always toward the top of the "most stolen" list, I would initially assume that there is some similar shit going on with that.

Unfortunately....this isn't the case. I once had a locksmith show me how easy it is to pop a lock on a Honda Civic with a flathead screwdriver....without damaging the lock at all. The one positive here would be that you could actually just carry around a leatherman as your "ultimate tool" and lose your car keys altogether.....if only it could somehow work on your house/apartment as well....

yea my locks are tottally ok. i think they really want the car now since they stole my registration and other knick knacks. not to mention the stereo wherein my glovebox was the receipt for it since i had a warranty i got on it. i've called the police, called the store i got the stereo from, the serial number was on my store warranty and it has been filed with the incredibly hardworking SPD.

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward to your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

Truly, this article is really one of the very best in the history of articles. I am a antique ’Article’ collector and I sometimes read some new articles if I find them interesting. And I found this one pretty fascinating and it should go into my collection. Very good work.
