The more I read and hear about the 2 Hawks picks the more excited I get. I think they will both come in and be starters. You never would have known Kelly Jennings went to the U. Michael Irving he aint. Speaking of Irving… Did anyone see him during the draft? I don’t know what purpose he served but he was annoying and kept interrupting Mort. All he did was laugh and make a few “in” jokes. It caused me to switch over to the NFL network.
Speaking of the NFL network… Corey Chavous is the new Viper. That guy knew his stuff.
I love the Broncos draft – bouncing up the draft board. I envision a 15+ year career for the Cutler. PS – where can I get a Jersey? I love the fact he is not a project like VY and hopefully won’t be a bust like Leinart. I am content with getting a QB to learn on the sidelines. The fact he put up big numbers in the SEC while paying for one of the leagues doormats is a positive. ’07 will have a nice storyline in Broncos camp. Casey thinks it was a wasted pick along with other pundits. We have had some time draft talk today. MCP getting more into the Sports talk I hope.
I don’t like to say who had a good draft and who didn’t cause you got to give it a few years. But I do like the Texans, Broncos and Titans picks – if they manage to pick up McNair. The Bills and Vikings were suspect.
I was happy to see that Marcus Vick went undrafted.
The Chiefs reached for Tamba Hali – he could have been taken in the second.
49ers had a nice draft, complete with Vernon Davis “Tears of Joy”
Jimmy Williams maybe next time you won’t tell everyone that the first thing you will buy when you get drafted is a gold Ferrari… Take a page from Holata Ngata’s book, a selfless gesture like buying a house for your sister kind of make you look just a tad bit better and might have kept you in the 1st round… It’s about Character.
I loved the Titans pick up of LenDale White…. Representing South Denver…. Mark my words White has a better Career then Bush. Yeah I said it.
Train, I like the Co's draft too, but more because they stole Walker from GB for a 2nd rounder. And how can you say that Cutler isn't a "project"? He won like 26% of his games at Vandy. And QB coming into the NFL is a project of somekind. Silly comment.
LenDale lucked out by going to a good running organization like Tennessee... of course, they are at Chow's fingertips now. Probably all the more reason the Titans drafted White. Ballooning to 300 lbs in 2 months cost him millions of 1st round money. Moron.
Silly comment? Cutler has no real things he needs to work on. He has all the tools. He doesn't need to fix his throwing motion or his mechanics like VY. In my book he ain't a project. he just needs to sit back and learn.. And the fact he lost most of his games. Well unless he was the only one on the field I really dont think that is any issue. No one can win a game by themselves. He could only do so much. Look at his numbers again those top teams in the SEC. He did a fine job with the talent around him. Leinart would be so lucky to do that well at Vandy. 2.0 Check yourself my brotha.
I know allegiance to a team is foreign to you my brother but yeah, I want the pick to pan out so I am going to stick up for my guy. I just like what I see from Cutler in College. I just hope it translates to the NFL.
I love the Walker trade too. Far better pick up than any college WR coming out this year. Now lets just see if his knee holds up.
Can’t forget about my boy Jeremy Bloom getting snatched up in the 5th by the Eagles, nice pick up- but I am way to biast.
Joe Toledo getting picked up by the Fins… Only two WSU and UW players respectively
I'm with Train on Cuts...I think in 5 years, we can sit back and anaylze...QB's coming from Big Time programs rarely pan out...Cutler already knows what its like not to have time to throw the ball...when was the last time Leinert didn't have two NFL players on his line at SC? same with Young...here's the top 5 rated passer's from last year and the schools they represented:
Top QB's from '05: AFC: 1-Manning-Rocky Top...here's the exception, but when he finishes his career like Marino, he'll be faced with the same "loser/choker" tab 2-Palmer-SC...ok, second exception, didn't develop until his final year at school though, for whatever that's worth 3-Ben"my dad owns the Ref's Union" Rothaksjdf;arger....the U...Miami, OH...before the MAC was cool... 4-Brady-Michigan...doesn't count because he was a back up and went late first early second day, can't remember 5-Snake...ASU...never fault a guy for going to ASU, see Playboy's College Special Pac 10 for reference
NFC: 1-Matty H...BC...never played for a Big East Championship, never really close 2-Marc Bulger...WVU...see above 3-Jake Delhomme...UL-LaFayette... 4-Mark Brunell..."Peace be with you" 5-Kurt Warner...N. Iowa...
My point, the QB position is not about W's and L's in college, (Gino Torreta?)...it's about leadership with the talent that you're given...I would say that Vanderbilt overachieved their expectations and given the talent played way about their heads...time will show...I'm just glad that Leinart is in the black-hole known as Arizona professional football now...I only could've hoped for Detroit as a potentially better place
I'm getting stoked for Fasano/Witten on the field with TO next year in big D...although it does mean that my childhood buddy Brett Pierce could lose a roster spot...unless they keep 4 TE's on the roster...
also love the Bobby Carpenter pick-up, blue-collar LB's from the midwest is a defensive dream, especially for the 3-4...
I haven't had too much time to digest the draft just yet other than to say that I like what the Hawks did. I spent the weekend drinking wine in the Yaki-Vegas Valley....so I was out of it until this morning.
I'll chime in if/when Goose throws down an analysis post.
I love the look and style of Hawk, Carpenter and Shelegal(Jets).. They bring there lunch pails to work and put there pants on one leg at a time except after they do... they make QB's cry.
Will Ohio St. even have a D next year? I believe the majority of there Defense was picked up by the Bills.
Ohio State will have D in Basketball with Oden coming to town... but that's far too many big pairs of shoes to fill on the Football Defense to succeed.
the one and done year for Oden...I love the next phase of College Basketball with the 19 year-old draft...pretty soon gets are going to be held back in Elementary school once they're able to touch rim...and look at what it did for 2.0
I am with the majority on the Hawks draft. They addressed some issues and picked up some good character guys. Jennings and Tapp are guys that will be around for a while. Tapp was a first rounder if he was little taller and a couple of pounds heavier.
By the way, I love how Joe has recycled a picture I used about two months ago which I'll confess, I stole it from another blog. Anyways, a draft down, now the free agent undraftees are on the clock...this should be interesting! The Hawks took two undrafted free agents in Weeks and some other guy...
Dude, I knew that you had it. But you didn't know then that I was the first to use it and already used it back in December. Plus, it's a little Dutch futbol fan. Thus continuing the Dutch theme I've been sporting the past two weeks, you would've known that if you had been participating in the Lodge more than once every couple of weeks.
See, the real issue is that you never check the blog. You, my friend... are suspect. Suspect.
So I don't have time to publish things but I jump in on discussions and bring my thoughts when I can. Sorry I don't have a job in front of the computer you pompous a**!
Joe. Lay off the Dude man. He is a founding father. A Captain. You dont F&*k with a Captain.
Well, unless his name happens to be 2.0. Only because 1.0 was the true captain. 2.0 still needs to earn a few stripes in my book. Enjoy your 90 day Member adding Suspension.
Dude...we all know that you don't work in front of a computer, you're too busy corrupting the 8 year olds w/ junior detective novels from your back seat and fun-size candies...
2.0...I agree that at times Dude is suspect...but, like Goose stated...well...he's the pedder-ass and a Capo...he kicks his points down to me, and he's a good earner...and the Dutch are one and done in the Cup...
Goose...I hate the Redskins and Darrell Green...there...but, I loved the The Good, The Bad and The Ugly photo, especially Papa Tui #74...the man who's sperm and sweat has given so much to the Seattle Sports Scene...
We'll see about one and done in the Cup. Only 4 weeks away! Might have to call in sick on Day 1 and watch the games with Train (since he already requested the week off).

Your loyalty runs deep, my friend. He's only been a Bronco for less than 48 Hours and you are ready to fight!

Love the breakdown Jimmy.
Anyone else have some comments on the draft. I am sure The Goose is working on a nice post draft analysis...
