"That trade messes up my daggone Top 10."
Love the ESPN Mobile commercial with Kiper. Who doesn't love the nonstop Kiper this time of year? What a character. So below is Kiper's final projections for the 2006 NFL Draft. One CB that we didn't review last week is Jimmy Williams out of VaTech... and in the list below he drops to the Hawks at #31.
Kiper added that there are 3 defensive backs who will fall to the second round, but only because he couldn't find a fit for them in the first round: Miami's Kelly Jennings, Ohio State's Ashton Youboty and Fresno State's Richard Marshall. And he expects all 3 to go early in the second round. Also, notice that DE Mathias Kiwanuka from Boston College isn't listed. And yes, apparently Kiper sometimes signs with "The Viper" on his autograph.
Will Seattle draft the best player available? Or will they draft a position of need? I've believed all along that they'll draft a CB because the player will fill both roles. Also, Seahawks GM Ruskell mentioned yesterday, in this notebook, that the team suspended talks with FA corner Ty Law until after the draft. In addition, I came across an article on Ruskell's pre-draft investigative work. We are in good hands, fellas. I tried to put it in cool table form, but couldn't get the javascript to work correctly, so I opted for the Lodge standard html...

that seems like the most accurate breakdown I've seen yet...I just want to say that if Leinart goes to AZ that I called that 10 months ago...and that I deserve the Viper's job...D'Brickashaw Out...
They'll be some trades to move up/down the first round. I do this both Leinart and Cutler will slide down to 10 and 11 or even farther to Minnesota at #17. Who's gonna be the last guy in the greenroom?
As long as this Jimmy Williams doesn't drop interceptions that hit him right in the hands....like the guy we already have that drops punts that hit him in the face in big playoff games.
Ah, the circle of life....
From NFL.com
Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech: He has first-round ability, high first-round ability, but off-the-field concerns have dropped him down some. He should still go in the first round, but if not for the issues he would likely be a top 10 pick.
Mathias Kiwanuka DE, Boston College: At some point last season, there was talk he could go in the top five. Now he will likely go in the second round. There are some questions about his toughness. But the speed off the edge is still there
oohhh...two wildcards? If Whitsitt was still running things, he'd find a way to pick them both up...I think if the pick is right and they're the best players out there than you have to pick them up...but, you have a chemistry working, stick w/ it....
