Let me tell you a little about Gooses morning
As you all may or may not know. Goose is a semi retired youth football coach. I put 10 years into the league and am taking a couple years off. One is wanting to spend more time with my Gosslings and 2, when I return to coaching, I plan to assemble the greatest youth coaching staff in Football history. It will be my dream team of coaches. But thats another story
The other day I got a call from one of the youth program directors of the Seattle Seahawks. Defending NFC champions.
You see. Last year Goose took his Newport Knights into Qwest field not once but twice, and showed impressive preformances vs Mt Si and South Tacoma. Holding a 2-0 record at Qwest puts your name on the Seahawk mailing list.
This year I was asked to attend a youth camp sponsered by the seahawks. Does goose hold a dummy or stand next to the camp coachs? Nope
Goose has his own station at the Camp. Give Goose 5 dummies, two footballs and a whistle and he'll start producing football players. I worked with 150 kids over a 3 hour span.
Who was running some of the other stations? Some high school coaches and low tier Seahawk gophers. Except for the station right next to Goose. This station was a QB dropback drill taught by the seahawks greatest pass catching QB in their history. Mr Seneca Wallace. Goose and Seneca, Side by side. coaching the Future Huskies, Cougers and Hawks.
Lets just say my ego was well, lets say "Joe Like". Kids asking whether you coach for the Hawks. Did I lie? The thought crossed my mind.
Seneca did a Q&A with the kids. Some questions right out of the mouths of Babes
"Are you mad at the refs? You got screwed."
"When do you play Pittsburg again"
"How far can you throw a football?" (He tossed it standing still about 60yds)
"Are you really going to play Miami in the super bowl this year?"
Regardless I had a great morning and thought I'd share with the Lodge.
Training Camps start in 3 weeks boys!!

Sounds like an awesome experience. I am sure the Goose made an impression on the coaching staff and maybe even the big man himself...
Side note... Kristen chose me over Seneca Wallace. Yep, that's right which gives me an ego of 2.0 proportions. See Kristen had the chance to go out with him while we were seeing each other (we were not committed yet)... I told her to go out with the guy. I mean he is an NFL player... So every time we see him during a game we chuckle and I say see that could be your man instead... Ah, the hilarity ensues.
but also consider if she would've taken Seneca up on his offer, you still might have your thumbnail and I would've had a non-load bearing Saturday afternoon...just something to think about
Great story Goose!
It's nice to see some real football get some attention in the lodge...
That is a memory for the ages. Good to see your ego now is up to a Dutch level of intensity too.
Love the kids questions. The only other thing I can say is that I'm disappointed you didn't call me to meet up after the mini-camp... since Seahawks stadium lies in the shadow of the Amazon buildings.
it is rad though that the Lodge now has 2, 2-degrees of Seneca Wallace stories...that never would've happened with Kitna or Dilfer
oh and Jaynee...one more comment like that and we're going to sick 2.0 back on you...just something to think about...
I was playing Dance Dance Revolution at Gameworks and I think Seneca Wallace glared at me through the window.
Joe. We were not at Qwest. We were in Bellevue
Also I have a 2 degree with Trent Dilfer. But its not very exciting. I helped him set up a Blackberry over the phone. It was nice when I called his house in Freso and said "This is Jeff from Nextel". "OH Trent has been talking about you all day!!!"
Now I know he wanted my knowlege of Blackberry but deep down I hope he wanted my opinion on how to attack a Cover2 Nickel Flat Read, Sam Gap B Defense.
Just think Train, if you would have let her go out with Seneca and she "Went under Center" with him, it would be like you were sleeping with Seneca now.
After all. You are not just sleeping with Seneca Wallace, but every woman he has been with.
Where am I going with this?
I have no idea....
whoa........
How did you all post this afternoon? I kept getting frickin' "down for maintenance" BS from about 3:30 on.....
CTown, aren't you "the guy" in charge of your network when your IT guy is out?
