Wednesday News

So a couple of interesting topics this morning from the Mojo Wire Network. The first is the plan from Universal Music to begin to offer free downloads beginning in December on a site called: "SpiralFrog". An interesting public move by a large music corporation that is relying on site advertisement to generate revenue. In another very interesting move it will not format to 2.0's iPod. My question to the Lodge is this: Does this change the future of how we access music? Or is this another attempt by the Giants to makes some sort of money from increasingly World Wide Hong Kong pirating network? Does this mark the end of iTunes? Will Batman be able to escape the Joker's watery shark-filled dungeon?

And in other non-related iPod news, Warren Jeffs, who's been living the American dream of creating his own religion that mandates sex with as many young girls as possible is facing the gentile reality of American Law Enforcement. The dream is over, and America finally has a rival to the Husien clan of Iraq after Jeffs' 40 to 70 marriages and possible 60 children, or as he's known in the inner circles of the runaway Mormon Sect: Warren Kemp (rim-shot). It's a pity that the newly constructed Palace d' Incest will be w/o their prophet, but I'm sure one of the 60 will be able to step up.

we're really on a pedophile/psycho trip lately. is the next level round up the lodge, get on a truck, and do some good old fashioned pedphile beatups? all this rhetoric is getting me riled up more than an outraged mother.

it's either that or I talk about futbol, and the Lodge has voted against me on that...so this is what I have to offer

The Lodge wasn't unanimous in the vote against Futbol. I'm all for it... in fact, it's just Goose & the MCP that object, so screw them. Let's talk Futbol!

As far as the iPod thing... someone will find a way around the system so the iPod will be able to use the music files. We can already copy entire iPod's with hacking programs easily downloadable as freeware. I'm not worried... and the Giants still make the most money off CD's/Albums, so those will be around for at least 5 more years until the general public wises up... which could take a while considering the general public re-elected Dubya.

I think that no matter what happens, we are progressively moving to a day where there simply won't be a format. Personally, I find this fact a little bittersweet.

It's interesting, I remember back in the day when I was working @ a record store. I was talking with a rep from WEA (which stands for Warner Electra Atlantic) about MP3's back in 1998/99. I was telling him how I though that a format-less style will probably be the way of the future.
What I love is that the rep actually laughed me off, saying he didn't really think MP3's would never catch on, and they would only be used in a very small niche market.
I found it funny that this was pretty much the entire industries perception for such a long time, and then all of a sudden they started noticing Album sales sharply decreasing, and not really understanding why.
The record industry always seemed to be taking the short bus to work....

If I'm on a bandwagon... I've been on it since playing Univac as a 6 yo toe-head. Post another Top 5 and quit your bitchin'. Futbol is the World's game... and should be included in discussion in the Lodge.
