CAN YOU DIG IT?!?!?!?!?

Fox Sports just broke the story that the Seattle Seahawks just aquired Deion Branch for a first round draft pick! I didn't actually think that the Hawks would be able to pull the trigger on this one.
Since the Hawks are probably going to have a draft pick in the mid-20's this year, this feels worth it, especially since they've already worked out a long term deal.
I LOVE THIS MOVE!!!!!!
Now, if we can just get some blocking for Matt....

On another note, I just wanted to tip my cap to Theduke following our week one matchup. Unless Santana Moss has a monster game, it looks like I'm primed to lose a heartbreaker. Good game, man!

The Hawks should be drafting in the late portion of the draft so I don't mind giving up a pick but I don't know if Branch is cause for a huge celebration. The guy is solid but not Jerry Rice in his prime..

PS...

Call me corny or a red stater but I love roasting out current prez just as much as the next guy but any thought to honoring the FDNY or NYPD for the sacrifice on 9/11. I dont know maybe I am in the minority.

we're not ABC Train...we're the LODGE and we reside in a perpetual green state...but yes, I can throw out a pic or two with the FDNY...you want me to include Guiliani? or Toby Keith?

Does that work for everyone? no more negative attacks on the Executive Branch...

Good move by the Hawks, but after yesterday...looks like they should be trying to deal for another decent LG...looks like the Chris Spencer era will be starting sooner than expected...

and looks like I might be low dog in the league this week unless Michael's cousin Lamont can get into the endzone...always nice leaving about 50points on your bench...not good times, great times

It aint about that Jimmy It's about a day when men went into a burning building to save lives not who is red or blue, green of WT Toby Keith. You might be lost in your vison of only seeing the bad in the current party to really see that his is about brothers, brothers in arms who thought about only helping not about there own lives. Tomorrow we can go back to Whatever we want but if the lodge is against remembering 9/11 then I will gladly turn in my memebership.

ok, i just fell off my soap box.. go about your business.

There's a flip side to it though, Train.
I mean, I got up this morning, and I turned on the news, and watched CNN replay their footage from that day. I picked up a newspaper w/all things 9/11 on the cover. I tuned into KJR on my commute in & got to listen to Jason Stark talk about the event. Everywhere you go today, it'll be in the air.

It was a really crappy day five years ago. It's a day we'll all still talk about when we're all old and bitter. Does a little Bush blasting make us un-american? Does cynicism equal lack of giving a crap about the day?
It was a bad day. Yet five years later and the world aint looking better.
I dunno...there's probably a point in there somewhere...or maybe there isn't.

Thanks for lending me the soap box Train.

I was hungover that day and called in sick at ELNK (sorry Joe) but it was a good day to skip work. Me and my sister filled with this anxiety to go out and do "something". Obviously, watching the news was better than crack for about two months. But what was a lot more interesting was talk radio over that first week. You would hear so many callers just talking grief issues they had not just about 9/11 but past wars, and heroic efforts to get to NY when all traffic was frozen.

Anyways HAWKS had a really bad start yesterday. Poor poor game. Where was the defense: Hasselback sacked 4 downs in a row? WTF? and Shaun fumbling causing Casey to lose his first matchup to me... oh wait, that will be acceptable this week. I'm sure Deion Branch will spice things up.

Train, obviously part of me agrees with you, and yes, it is important to remember, however...the political facts of that day have not changed...and the fact that this day has been used as our presidents..."little black dress he can wear with anything" pisses the living hell out of me...

The explotation of suffering is nothing new to politics, however, I don't feel that we've ever seen one political party use such a catostrophic event to demonize, divide and weaken this country that I pay taxes in...

I doubt that FDR thought it was a good idea to argue that Pearl Harbor was going to happen again unless his party (Democrats) stayed in power...however, fact that a Democrat Executive Branch ok'd Japanese Interment following Pearl Harbor shows that Americans have learned absolutely nothing regarding tolerance and acceptance...Gitmo? Interment Camps?

I conclude my SoapBox rant by saying this...it is UN-American NOT to critize your country and its decisions...blind faith in governmental bodies is the final move toward anarachy...Emma Goldman would be proud...

I really feel that bashing is a way to commemorate 9/11. If you feel that negative discourse cannot be fruitful form of expression than train I invite you to get this Rx.

Jimmy I am in total agreement with you on the politicos of Bush and the post 9/11 america. I want you to know that. We are on the same page. I just thought we could seperate the two for today that's really all I meant.

Seriously Train...how heavy is that cross?...if you feel that's the card to play that's fine, but honestly I'm just trying to bring up a specific point, not ostrocize you...

No one forgets the courage and bravery by the citizens employed to save other citizens...it happens everyday in America and around the World...and if you feel today is a good day to honor them, than I'm with you...but I just don't feel comfortable isolating the men and women of NY...when there's people doing this every hour of every day of every year...how about giving a shot our to the UN medics that helped Lebanese and Isreali civilians?...or Doctors w/o Borders...good will overcome evil...but evil will always get page 1...

Mon Sep 11, 11:52:00 AM PDT
Blogger Casey said...

I have to ask Train: What bashing are you referring to? Was it the picture that pointed out that Bush was a freaked out little pup who didn't know what to do that day? That's the only critique that occured today. No one went on a rant. No one said anything.

I agree with Jimbo. We have a president that has used Americans fear to get what he wants during his presidency. And every time he does that, it pisses me off.

It has nothing to do with the lodge not being respectful. In fact I'm pissed because the people in the White House HAVEN'T been respectful.

"If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."

I think its an interesting topic.
I for one happen to agree that certain honors have been skewed over the last 5 year.

Take Todd Beamer and the famous "Lets Roll". for all we know he said lets roll and then stood behind other unnamed heros. And yet todd Beaver has a High School named after him.

Im not saying he wasnt a hero. I think the who concept of heroism has been lowered due to the patriotic natire of 9/11

I say we debate this. after all...we are not just Football and Comic books here

Cool fact from Elias

Laurence Maroney gained 27 and 22 yards on his first two NFL carries. The last player to gain at least 20 yards on each of his first two carries was ... a linebacker? Dexter Coakley has carried the ball twice in his NFL career -- for 26 yards in 2000 and 33 yards in 2004.

Train, I think we agree that honoring those who "served" our country on the tragic day of 9/11 five years ago is worthy of remembrance. But it's a true citizen's duty to "out" the current adminsistration for the blatant war mongering since the tragedies of said event.

And if you don't say something, well... I think you are disgracing those soldiers who've died overseas since 9/11 in a war profitting the GOP and big business in their back pockets.

I put up the icon to rip on you. And I still love it that me rooting for the Ravens to win the SB 6 years ago gave me a reputation for jumping on bandwagons, even though everyone picks a side to root for in the SB. Classic Lodge type-casting.... just like I know that CU and the Co's losing these first couple of weeks does bother you. Get back off the soap-box again, Train...
