Reality Check

1st day back at the office and my computer is fried. I think it may have actually blown smoke upon startup when I got into the office this morning. Is this a sign? I think so...definitely. Almost 3 entire weeks away and the first time I touch a computer...it dies. I think it must have sensed my relaxation level and complete inability to multi-task and forced itself to meltdown. That being said, you will all have the privilege of digesting my vacation recap along with your morning coffee since I'm just now hitting up the late night post. Do not worry, I will be brief.

Is the honeymoon over? ...not if I can help it. It is my new life quest to bring a little bit more of the island spirit back to the mainland. I know that I am way too intense to live like that all the time...but it feels pretty good right now. I never thought it was possible to be so at ease with the world. I guess that's what happens when you walk away from the internet, television and news altogether. I'm not talking about turning into some sort of hippie....or being overly lazy. The island spirit that I speak of may seem like something from Dazed and Confused to some...but it's more just an overall attitude. People are so laid back that if you even act like you are in a hurry, everyone just looks at you like you are a complete freak. Not to say that anyone is mean....exactly the opposite. They just wonder what the big hurry is. It's the population equivalent of the slowskys. Easy to understand when you look at beautiful beaches everyday.

A simple illustration here...on more than one occasion, a car would stop in the middle of a busy highway to allow the car traveling in the opposite direction to turn left in front of them. I tried it a few times...it felt good. If I tried that in my own Seatown, I may be shot by the idiot behind me, or at least rearended by somebody trying to put on their makeup. I'm already irritated by my drive home....frickin' cell phone talking soccer moms.....Shawn's getting angry! ....no, just kidding....island spirit...feel the flow. It goes up and down.....and around.

Here we go with the recap: The wedding was great. Almost perfect. Honeymoon consisted of a whole lotta sittin' on the beach with my wife and drinking rum and beer while also taking the time to ride in a Hughes 500 helicopter with the doors off, swim with sea turtles, go on a zipline expedition, see the grand canyon of the pacific, play the best golf course in the state....and basically eating, drinking and being merry all the way to the gorge on Sunday night for the final Dave Matthews show....and, we're home. All in all....absolutely epic. Can we do it again? I wish.

Now it's time to get back to the business of my life....the wedding is over. I've got football teams to cheer on, new opportunities to pursue, washer matches to win, poker games to lose, trash to talk, and friends to catch up with.

So....Lodgemates unite for some more late Monday night bowling next week before I start school again? What say yous?

Disclaimer: I should also mention that I'll be checking in intermittently this week until I can image a new hard drive with a backup....so I apologize in advance for a lack of daytime posting.

CTown...what a pleasant surprise this morning to find one of our own back in the 206...although after reading the first part of your post and remembering my days spent in Costa Rica and realizing that my causality dictates that I must be upset or in a hurry to get a lot of things quickly...for what purpose...sometimes that doesn't matter...I think most of us live with it for so long that we forget that there is another mentality or way of doing business...I recognize it as the Saxon-Way, and I refuse to battle it it...

I'm glad you had good time...if you can't enjoy your honeymoon then it's not a good sign for the years to come...and count me as locked in for Monday Night Bowling...

Monday Night Bowling. Yes, count me in also. It's been too long.

ShawonDunston... great to have you back. Did your grandmother recover from the wedding surprise?

More questions... Is Train pulling a Googs this week? Where is that guy?

Seatown. Glad to have you back. You were missed in the lodge.

Congrats on now having the 4th Longest Active consecutive Days Married streak in the Lodge

Goose 3400+ days. A Ripkenesque Total
Jimbo #2 5 years behind the leader Joe #3 9 years behind the leader
Seatown 21+ days and rolling strong.

Gentlemen.
Rather than Monday bowling this week I was thinking of Celebrating the opening of MNF with a little gathering at the Nest. (Since MNF is opeing with a two game show Skins/Vikes and Oak/SD) I know crappy matchups.

But if Bowling is the choice of the Lodge I fully understand.

Mmm... Goose Nest Lodge Gathering. I might be leaning towards the football fiesta. Great suggestion.

I like the football fiesta.....I just like to roll...and with a class this quarter on Monday nights....I'm screwed for any West Seattle Bowling action.

Not to mention that I already know that I'll be missing two classes for the two Hawks MNF games :-)

All that said...I'm up for anything I guess. We could always do both....

See, with a Goose Nest gathering there's usually guaranteed good food...

Train's a little sensitive about...well, everything...

...and since my interest in the actual football game is very low...I'm going to need either rock-rolling or poker to grab my attention...I'm still voting for bowling...that's just because I like to be able to stumble home...
