Random Musings From Insurance-Land
Things are finally returning back to normal after the windstorm...it was a CRAZY @#$%ing week, to put it moderately. Anyway...a couple of chatting points:
1. Gotta give props for the 4 Seahawks that made the pro-bowl. I was only expecting 2 picks. Julian Peterson & Lofa Tutapu will be representing the Defense while Mack Strong & Walter Jones are in for the offense.
Julian I expected in the Pro-bowl, and it was really cool to see Lofa continuing to ge respect. Mack Strong was a little surprising, and apparently Walter Jones is still at the top of his position, despite starting to show signs of his age.
The big travesty...WHERE THE @#$% IS JOSH BROWN!?!?!?!? Did the Chicago love-fest had to include screwing over a guy how defines the term "clutch". I smell on conspiracy....
2. The College bowl pool has officially started & the lodge is 1 for 1. I got the TCU/N Illinois game 31 points, and we came up big. Just 31 more to go!
3. I'm loving that "Rock Balboa" has got a 77% Freshness rating on Rottentomatoes.com. I'm not a huge Rocky fan, although I love #1 & #4...for completely difference reasons. Part 1, because it's a damn fine film, & part 4 because it's so damn cheesy & over the top. A lot of reviews are comparing this to the first flick, and everything I've seen seems to indicate that this will be a much better way for Rocky to go out, than Rocky V. I just watched that for the first time, and oh my god...CRAP! Like total crap! Stupidest street fight ever!
Still...I'm genuinely excited about seeing the new one.
4. So Serenity is going to be the midnight movie @ the Egyptian on December 30! Lodge gathering? j/k
Anyway...I've gotta get back to writing up my number 6 & 7 films of the year....
Talk amongst yourselves....

Rocky V should be wiped from the earth and all record of it should be destroyed, along with Godfather III. How many movies actually give you headaches and nausea?
I tried doing the III, IV and V this past weekend and had to turn off V...total abomination to not just film, but 20th century Americana...yeah I said it...
One question though...what happened to Paulie's robot from IV...I figured that thing would've been worth at least a house down payment?
Remember MCP...During this post, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way I feel about you, and the way you feel about me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if I can change, and you can change, everyone can change.
Tommy Gunn
"You don't own me! You don't own me! Nobody does! I want my respect
I'm nobody's puppet! Nobody's boy!"
It's funny you mention the robot. Over at aint-it-cool-news.com, Sylvester Stallone has been doing a sereies of 20 Q&A's with fans, where he's pretty open an honest. He's talked about just about evey part of his career...good and bad.
Anyway, someone asked how the robot came about. This is his answer:
"I saw this ridiculous robot at a party and was charmed by its mechanical manners. I thought, “Wow, I’d love to share this with the world.” And like a man obsessed with a new toy, I did. In retrospect, it’s also a candidate for the Morons Hall of Fame. What was I thinking? A talking dishwasher, a sexy trash compactor, maybe even a wise toaster… but an oversexed robot? Xanax, please."
I agree with you MCP about Josh brown. I dont think there has been a better kicker in the NFC this year.
I would have put Josh in over Mack unfortunately.
Josh Brown is more clutch. But he's also 21/27 in attempts all year, and only scored 101 points so far. Compare that to Robbie Gould's league leading 128 pts and 28/32, you can see why the voters took da Bear.
yeah but shouldn't the pro-bowl voters take into account the level of Seattle Homerism for Brown? ...that has to get him something
I agree with goose. I go with Brown over Mack on that 4th & 1 against the Niners.....oh wait....that's not what we were talking about.....
It's been nearly a week and it still burns.
I apologize for commenting on this post earlier without any true commentary.....
"Lofa Tupoopu has not had a pro bowl season."
If you do not agree with that statement....I WILL fight you.
I'm not quite sure if the 2007 version of the Tapoopu jersey will have skid marks on the front of the jersey or the back.....the jury is still waiting for the Christmas Eve matchup with the "greatest running back of all time" before passing judgement.
(.....my bet is that the skid marks will be on the front...)
If Lofa could Ta-ta-ta-tackle somebody when they were in the gap...the Hawks might be at LEAST 10-4 instead of 8-6.
OK....I'm done now....sorry for the delay.....Seatown is back...and he's back for good.
(pre-emptive retort) Oh...and Goose (or anyone for that matter)....bring it if you disagree....I would be willing to bet that for every 2 tackles that 'poopu has made.....he has missed a KEY tackle......and that's only based on the breakdown of 3 games worth of film....so if you've got more insight than that...so be it.
CTown breaking down film!?! Damn, that guy is fired up.
I watch all of the games that I attend over the next week after the game....gotta love the DVR baby.
It's nice watching the game live...and then watching it again on film.....at least MOST of the time its nice....
