Gooses Take: Sean Taylor
Today Sean Michael Maurice Taylor passed away at the age of 24. April 1st 1983- November 27th 2007
One of the best young safeties in the game, a pro bowler, Tied for the NFL lead in interceptions. Hard hitting play maker. The leader of the Redskin Defense. Due to his ferocious style of hitting, his teammates had nicknamed him "Meast", half man, half beast
Goose take is. Well... I'm not surprised.
Sadly this kid from Miami has been skirting with the law for his entire career. He was arrested for DUI and almost went to prison for Armed assault. One on many high profile Miami athletes that seemed to find himself on the wrong side of the law.
He was young, brash, maybe even a dirty. He needed guidance. He needed to stop acting like a thug and a punk. He was in no way a Goose player. I respected his talent, his ability, but not his attitude.
I'm sad to see such a talent cut down so young. But while reports talk about a burglary, I have to ask, when robbing a house, how many burglars break into the bedroom and start firing? I think Seans past caught up with him.
Washington Redskins (2004-2007)
Career Stats
Tackles 299
Interceptions 12
Forced fumbles 8

It's sad to see anyone shot to death. I feel for his family.
I too have a strange feeling about the burglary. It does smell funny.
At first you aren't surprised. But then you learn that after he had a kid in the past 2 yrs he's changed and my heart goes out to his family.
I believe people can change and make better choices towards growth. Sean Taylor seemed to be starting to making those choices recently. It is tragic.
This is like the 138th robbery of a high-profile athlete in the past 2 yrs... what's wrong with our society? Of course, it's a world wide phenomenon since it's been happening for years over in the UK with English League Footballers houses getting robber while they are playing matches.
No, that only happens to your beloved Liverpool.... And they have yet to kill any players....
that's why Rafa has to keep changing his starting rotation, to keep the Scouse thieves off balance...(copyright Guardian Unlimited)...
Hate to hear about any young man not making it to their 25th bday...I wonder if the Commish makes any changes to the NFL draft based upon the last year of off the field NFL incidents:
*Ricky
*Vick
*PacMan
*Husky Legend Tank J
*The Bengals
*Sean Taylor
*etc...
This is exactly how the NBA lost its fanbase, that and the lockout...
I so wanted to use that Guardian quote... I couldn't secure the copyrights....
My co-worker (asstant coach for Edmond-Woodway football) gave me some gnus that last week somebody broke into Taylor's house previously and left a machete lying around. I would take this as the new urban symbol to the corleone "packaged fish" message.
I read that the machete was actually Taylor's. He kept it for protection.
Right, the machete was Taylor's... the earlier burglar left a knife on his bed.
I think this probably was a legit robbery gone wrong. Was the guy possibly a punk? ...sure. Word about people like that spreads around town fast, and I'm sure somebody was just looking for a payday and they were all cranked up.
If you break into someone's place with the intent of killing them, you don't shoot them in the leg and run away.
Still a sad story. He was turning into an All Pro. Had a ton of potential and left behind an 18 month old daughter. I blame "the U".
I blame Michael Ivin....
Minnesota?
Jimbo.
I think you know when I talk about "the U" there is only one answer.
Cornell.
Damn them.
