Oscar .... zzz

I didn't see much of the Oscars actually. I was reviewing the tivo of North Carolina trouncing Duke, and then saw the Sonics actually win a basketball game. They won tremendously i might add... but then again, the Sonics losing a 30pt lead isn't unplausible these days. Anyways, all the goobers and sobbers were waiting on their seats to hug these guys at the Oscars last night.

Unfortunately, gay Marlboro ads just don't cut it in America yet. Crash stole best picture from the nancy boys.

I'm not too hip on this years films so there were a lot of WTF moments when i was reviewing winners.
ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Legally Blonde to Oscar... WTF

Reese Witherspoon - "Walk the Line"

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
A whole career of flat performances... WTFFFFFF

George Clooney - "Syriana"

Overall the Oscars don't do much for me anymore. I only pay attention to two things: Cannes and Toronto

way to take the elitist highground w/ the Great White North and France...I'm with you on award shows...I really don't see much point other than revenue generation, but what do I know, I've never wrote a screenplay and I didn't like Audition...

The real enjoyment this year was no commercials and fast forwarding through the boring speeches and lame ass awards. Damn, I love DVR.

Overall the show was kind of Blah reminding me of my disdain for award shows. I thought Stewart was very funny but the crowd seemed like they were afraid to laugh at his jokes.

CRASH – the movie that reminded everyone who forgot that the world is full of racism. Hmm, you don’t say.

I think the movie that really got shafted here was WALK THE LINE. Mind you I just saw it for the first time last night, I was blown away at all the performances. Phoenix was amazing and Spoon was great. I never thought I would say that. This movie has it all – Love, music, addiction and redemption.

I can live with Batman winning the S. actor Oscar – Can Clooney bring it? You bet he can

Nothing against Clooney but I loved that he said Hollywood was in the fore front of social conscience and change then the academy goes about giving the Oscar to CRASH ( I guess it would be a provacative movie if it was made 15 years ago, but that was what DO THE RIGHT THING was for) . In my eyes it looks like there still is a nice puritan undercurrent in Hollywood that just cant pull that lever for some gay cowboys eating pudding…

I also enjoyed Clooney's speech. He flat out said, he wasn't goin' to win for director...hilarious...short and sweet...and even ripped on himself for Batman...how do you not love that...
Congrats to PHS, he was truely deserving of this award and he is one of those great actors.

Stewart's monologue was pretty good and his side stuff was pretty good.

Got to mention the green scene suit of Stiller. Pretty funny, but after a little bit it was over the top...

Train...good call on DTRT, but I think Boyz N' The Hood did a much better job portraying the issue than Crash did...remember BNTH? that was when Singleton tried to make movies...

I think we are all forgetting the movie JUICE. Now that was classic Ghetto cinema.

My favorite gang related movie is Above The Rim, hands down. Easily the best, with the soundtrack, struggle, sports, gangs, ho's & one immortal 2pac rounding off the perfect ghetto movie.

Menace II Society didn't have the real-life thug that Tupac Shakur brought to Above The Rim and Juice (good call, Train), respectively. BNTH had Ice Cube, so it passes the real-life thug test.

Joe Joe Joe, always mixing genre films in the wrong direction. Since you haven't seen Crash yet this could be misinterpreted. Above the Rim isn't a gang movie just because it has "black" people in it.

Train, not only was JUICE dope, it had a dj contest in it. WAAAAAAT. Three 6 in da houuuse!

I'm reminded of another one word ghetto movie... FRESH. 12 year old drug dealers, recess is a whole new thing.

To clarify, I said "gang related" movie... and Fresh was about as lame as Dangerous Minds.

whoaaaa, again distorting reality Joe. Coolio vs. Fresh. That is like comparing Liono from Thundercats to Wilt Chamberlin. Dangerous Minds was lame, but it was not out there with Fresh.

Do I need to remind you all of Jayson Lyric or Poetic Justice or can we just skip those.

If we are talkin' drug movies...let's talk about Traffic...making white people realize that they have a problem when it comes to drugs too...

2.0, you can talk after you have seen Crash...I thought with all the work they had to do to get the movie made, it gets credit. I haven't seen a film in a while that actually made me want to yell at the screen.

Jon Stewart called it a "period piece!"

New Jack City counts because it has Ice-T in it. Good call, Goose.

Dude, I'll see it. I just don't like to conform. But I'll come around.

Devo, you have issues.
