Spring Flings
Spring has brought the summer sun the past few days, and last night we drank, barbecued & rolled rocks as a partial Lodge. I say "partial" because there was a glaring ommission from the gathering.
There once was a time when one could just mention bowling and The Dude & Jimbo would be there. Even when The Dude was living in Renton, even when he lived on Queen Anne, he was a staple at the alley. Those days apparently have past. Here are the facts... 2 Lodge gathering in 2 weeks. Each gathering organized and planned out at least 1 week in advance. Each gathering sans Dude. The next gathering we might just have to pour one out for a fallen brother. We will see. Maybe it was The Dude's Shabbos. But I believe we're talking about unchecked aggression here.
In other news, spring football news continues to pour in. And hope springs eternal for Husky Football. Prize recruit QB Jake Locker announced today that he has decided to stay with the Huskies next fall instead of signing with whoever drafts him in the upcoming MLB Draft.
And speaking of fallen brothers, Steve Emtman was elected today into the College Football Hall of Fame, along with Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden, and 13 others. Ah, good ol' Emtman back in the fold. He was a monster that helped carry the UW Defense to the 1991 Championship. Ah, the good old days. We'll always have the memories.

2.0, telling it like it is...and I think it's a given that Monday night bowling is always a good time...I'm just not sure I could do it every week, but I'm getting dangerously close to trying to push my 125 average up to 130...I'll probably take up CTown's advice and pick up my own shoes to avoid the 2.50 from the man....
Nice pic also btw, love to see the old jersey's and exposed belly and hip pads...and taking down CTown's beloved Tuscan Kitty's...
Ya, I chose that pic for all of the reasons you mentioned. Plus, I couldn't find a pic of the Emtman poster that came out after he went pro that my brother had in his room. The one with the weights all around Emtman with a clever moniker like Dale Ellis' "Silent Assassin". Mike & I each had 4 or 5 of those in our rooms growing up.
Joe you failed to mention that 21 out of 28 homes in Seattle must be serviced by Brinn Co. Did you feel that?
6 out of 8 is better than 3 out of 4...the 935 is on the brink of eternal damnation via furnace fires...it's a good thing that Brinn Co. is looking out for the little guys...
I think everyone had at least one sports poster with a title. Those were classic 80-90's kids room standard issue.
I had the "Three Amigos" poster.
Oh, not to mention the SI posters that you could order from the magazine. Those were classic. Just an action photo of the player and his name listed next to him...
I had a few, the most prominent of which was the Michael Jordan dunking the "moon" instead of a basketball. But all the rest were Wizard comic magazine pullouts, and comics i was willing to take apart.
Great article here by Scoop Jackson about Sam I Am vs. Nasha. Game 5 is tonight. Can't wait.
Im going to jump to the defense of The Dude, A captain, and one of the founding fathers.
I seem to remember a time when Joe 1.0 was put to rest due to "Lack of Activity and Performance" because of other things going on in life
The are times in life that other things need to take priority. I for one believe Dude knows the meaning of the word PALS. The Dude will rise again.
Calling out a Captains integrity in the Lodge. That causes ripples in the Family.
Always nice to see George Malauulu on his back. He ranks right behind Alfred Jenkins in great Wildcat QB history
in·teg·ri·ty firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values - and something Mother Goose is in no short supply of
I want to apologize for not makin' an appearance last night. With the school year winding down...there is a lot of paper work for several of my students. Plus a late night wasn't in the works for me. I will do better, and sorry for bailin' on bowling.
Don't think for one second I have forgotten my brotheren...My lodge is my life...so I'm sorry...just tryin' to get through the last 25 days of school and survive...
Eye of the Tiger, Dude. We just miss you, that's all. One can deal with the never posting and crap comments... but when you don't show up to the past 2 months of Lodge events, well, you get called out. Much like George Malauulu in '91.
OJ Jenkins endzone flip with 4 seconds left to seal a U of A victory in Husky Stadium was both one of the most painful and bittersweet college football moment that I have seen in person.....and it seals him into the hallowed halls of U of A QB history....
hallowed halls of U of A QB history=spare red blazer closet in Lute Olsen's office
