When can I get my #10 jersey?

Thought I'd give an introduction post to the biggest thing to happen to UW Football since Marques led the boys over the Boilermakers:

Ladies and Gentleman the #1 football recruit in the State of Washington: QB Jake Locker

*6'3" 215lb
*4.65 40yd dash
*2005 Stats: 1603 pass yds 27td 3int , 1338 rushing yards 24td, =51 combined td

*has been labeled a Marques-esque QB, w/ just as good if not better feet and stronger arm

*led Ferndale HS to the last two 3A State Championships games, including a 47-12 win over Prosser, were he had 272 combined yards and 4td

*labeled as "quality young man" who is "extremely coachable" and carries a "tremendous work ethic", three things the football program hasn't seen in almost a half-decade

As sad as this commentary is, this will be the best day of Husky football all year. It's hard to place the burden of success on the shoulders of an 18 year-old kid born in the mid-to late 80's, but this program has needed someone with the on-the-field and off-the-field talents since #11 graduated. Ty's quest to rebuild the image of the football program couldn't have landed a better poster-boy for the next 5 years. 2007 will be the first time in a long time where the QB position ctually represents its star-studded past. Perhaps this is the Return of the DAWG?

I think it's a huge step for the Dawgs. I think it speaks volume for Locker saying to other baseball teams "don't draft me." I think that shows his character and that he is a man that stands by his word.

He is definately if not the only cornerstone that you have for this team. I think Hasty could make them a good one-two punch. Locker to Russo!!! Can you hear Bob-o yell that out on the radio!!!! Like I said...this is a huge day for the Dawgs!

I love to hear terms like "work ethic and coachable. cornerstone terms for a Ty led team.

Are they red shirting him? I would think they would with all the Qb's they have going now.

It'd be a mistake to play him this year...you've worked so hard to get #4 to be just a mediocre QB...let Locker use the year to study up the system and get good reps in practice...practice?...yeah practice...then have an open competition for the starting qb job...which I think will be good for him to go out and prove it, instead being handed to him...could he be a four year starter...kind of like another Ty recruit that is going for the Heisman this year...also wears #10?...has a semi-hot sister?...

I'd redshirt him also. Since it is another dredded rebuildling year. But there is something to say about throwing the guy into the fire. The other QB's the Dawgs have don't have "what it takes" to excel.

But that being said, all of the new faces on the OL scare me more about putting the kid behind center. Get the line a year a experience behind them before protecting the jewel of Ty's recruiting class.
