Sadness at the lack of respect from our Lodge Admins
Gentlemen,
I understand that the World cup is in Full swing and that the Lodge has a huge sports theme over the last few weeks. But this Lodge was also built on TV and Movies and we lost a Hall of Fame Member over the weekend with the death of Aaron Spelling at the age of 83.
While I am not a huge fan of 90210, Melrose Place, 7th Heaven, Dynasty, Hart 2 Hart or Charmed, you cannot dispute the popularity. You can respect the work. This man practically owned ABC for 15 years.
I am a fan of Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Charlies Angels, SWAT, TJ Hooker, The Mod Squad and FRICKIN VEGA$ with Dan Tanna, to name a few.
Some facts on Mr Spelling
His 6-acre mansion "The Manor" at 594 Mapleton Drive in Belair, Los Angeles, has 123 rooms, a bowling alley, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis court, screening room and four 2-car garages. Spelling bought the property in 1983, a house that had belonged to Bing Crosby. He demolished the Crosby house and built his own dynasty.
His home, The Manor, is the largest single-family home in the state of California.
1945 graduate of Southern Methodist University (Years ahead of Craig James and Eric Dickerson)
Had so many shows on ABC in the 1970s, people in the business joked that ABC stood for "Aaron's Broadcasting Company".
Holds Guinness World Record for most prolific television producer.

No, I really love waking up in the morning, opening up the Lodge and seeing the smiling face of an old man to start my day.

1) I included Heather locklear in Hotpants at the bottom to offset an obviously visually unpleasing Aaron spelling...however...
2) The man should be respected for his work. Duke. Im disappointed in your lack of respect. Dont surpass the MCP at the bottom of the Gooses Lodgemate Integrity Scale. It’s not a pleasant place to be.
He's cool. I give it up for Fantasy Island and past hero Ricardo F'in Montalban. Old dead man still distasteful.

The Locklear hot pants was a very nice touch, but Spelling brought more crap than quality to TV & I'm not sure the Lodge deserves a lecture from the Goose.
Although, I know a day will come when one of us buy's a Crosby-like modern celeb and demolishes their home to build the ultimate Lodge dwelling. The day will come.
While I respect the dead and TV-producer-moguls...It does not rank higher in my book then a smiling Swede following a gritty Sunday morning match...sorry Mr. Goose, no disrespect...but he is the man that planted the seed known as Tori Spelling...and for that he stays off the pic of the day...please reference Paragraph 8 section 42 of the Lodge handbook..."Under no circumstances shall Tori Spelling or any family member to Tori Spelling be referenced in the Quote of Picture of the Day"

I stand behind my chastising of the Lodge and will do it again.
I completely disagree that while everyone produces crap this is a legend of television alongside Johnny Carson, Walter Cronkite, and yeah...I'll toss in a little family here...Rod Serling. These are pioneers that changed Television and should be recognized for what they have done.
And regardless of the Spelling Spawn, we must show the respect.
At some point the spawn becomes its own manifestaion and while the Parent is connected to it, it begins a life a crappy telivision and made for TV movies on its own.
That should in no way degrade the work of the parent.
I stand by my arguement and the mans work speaks for itself.

This is a man who changed Television. You may not have always likes what he has done, but regardless he changed Television.

Id put Bochco on a list of men who have changed television.
Hill Street, LA Law and NYPD Blue.
In many ways he changed the way Police Dramas are made.
And then came Cop Rock.
He still has a few more series before he becomes a full pioneer, but he's getting there.
Johnny Carson is for sure in the Lodge Hall of Fame, Spelling... they are not peers or equals in my thoughts. If i stand alone on that fine. If you want to promote him on your on goose thats cool too.

One day you will pick up your infant son, hold him in your arms play Tball and shoot hoops with him, read to him every night, watch him grow until he graduates from High school with a 3.5 GPA and a letter in football, soccer and track, and then realize that he has a lack of fundemental common sense and will give him every opportunity you can to help him succeed. Johnny Carson would not be in the Lodge Hall of Fame.
I dont think he has ever been mentioned in the Lodge, Quoted in the Lodge, or even refered to in the lodge? How can he be in the lodge Hall of Fame?
Tom Skerrit is in the lodge HOF, as are any and all midgets (Because Joe finds them funny)
Several Soccer and Football stars are in the Lodge HOF.
Chewbacca and Bill Walton, as well as the cast of Top Gun.
But until Johnny Carson is posted, quoted and refered to often, I dont think you can put him in the lodge HOF.
Put him in every Television and other Meduim HOF, as he is immortal and a legend.
Maybe that is your calling Duke. To get Carson in the Lodge HOF.

I am out of the office for the remainder of the day. Take this into consideration... Carson City, NV is Nevada's historic center of the wild west, has legalized gambling, and hot girls you can buy for the night. Spelling has a glorified condo on a plot of land.
You would totally go for his "Plot of Land" if you could.
And besides.
If you owned Spellings house and has a party, you'd see more ass than a Central Park Bench or Train at a Vegas Porn convention
