Weekend Game Balls

Excellent posting while I was absent...(loved the Zombie review Duke, although I think you're wrong about Dawn of the Dead 2.0, they're not smarter, just faster, like modern day NFL)...anyway, I wanted to start the week out and give out some game balls from the end of last week and the weekend:

First, I want to start with the Montlake 11 and especially Dan Howell and the Husky D. A week after attending the funeral of his father he returns an interception for the go-ahead lead in the best Husky win since beating Michigan almost 30 years ago (actually just 4 years ago, it just seems that way). The Husky D was continually asked to defend the red-zone with the Bruins beggining drives on the 9 and 6 during the first half and only coming away with field goal after field goal. In the second half they showed some classic Husky pride with only allowing 3 first downs and a field goal that came off of a 63 yard punt return. I'm not ready to declare them Rose Bowl champs quite yet, but the fog created by the culture of losing is begining to lift off of Lake Washington.

Second, to the all-of-a-sudden one dimensional Chawk offense, which spells good things for Hasselback owners, but potentially dangerous things later on. An offense built on play-action will find less and less open receivers if the run is not respected. Alexander is playing with so much fear of injury right now that he might as well just go on the shelf for a couple of weeks so this offense can develop a running game without him. The actual game ball for the day goes to the Hammer and the rest of the Hawk D, which will be needed in order replace a time consuming rushing attack.

Best line of the morning came from Hugh B.L. Millen, when asked about the comeback in the second half: "What do you do after an orgasm (42-3)? Go to Sleep" (that quote gets a game ball as well)

Prez #42 William Jeff Clinton for taking a weak Fox News setup with Chris Wallace and actually calling out the hack-network for it's weak attempt to corner a man who's IQ is about 100 points higher than anyone asking the questions. (Oh yeah...bin Laden is bigger than trying to pin on just one-guy, but thanks for playing ABC and Fox)

Finally...I want to give a shout out to global warming...for allowing me to paint and seal my deck during my time-off...as of Thursday morning I was cursing the Alaskan-jet stream, but the next three days more than made up for it...thank you and f' you Al Gore, you manbearpig...I'm cereal...

I wanted to give a game ball to the University of Colorado and there gallant effort between the Hedges. Hey were still undefeated in the Big 12!

I listened to the Clinton interview this morning… EPIC! That little exchange had more sound bites then New York Vinny has chins. If anyone has a chance to pick up a New Yorker do so, there is a fascinating profile on the Prez and his life after the oval office. The man is really 100 IQ point over just about anyone, except maybe Bill Gates but Gates doesn’t have that certain gift of gab.

I spent Saturday watching the UW game sandwiched between about 15 Pilipino men who were all had money on the game or knew someone who did. Oh, then after the game they all started a nice high stakes poker games. Yeah, needless to say I lost my chips pretty early…

The Hawks run attack is troubling. I can’t believe that it is all due to the loss of Hutch. I think most teams are just looking run first when playing the hawks. Next Sunday night will be a true test. If the Hawks can score any touchdowns against the Bears D it will be amazing. Yes, I said it. The Bears D is that good.

You don't eff with Slick Willy. Clinton gave a great interview on The Daily Show last week also.

Beware of Filipinos at the poker table.

I wonder if we can blame man-bear-pig for our massive fishing waters genocide.

(Just don't eff Filipinos in groups in general. Other than that eat, drink, and laugh at your leisure. They might poke you in the crotch for fun though.)

yes, having a girlfriend who's best friend is Filipino has opened my life to a whole new world.

I have to say the food at the gathering was so good I consumed mass amounts of Lumpia.

My game ball goes to Chris Spencer #65 on the oline.

I saw some solid play from the fill in guard making it tough for a return of the Pork Chop.

Also before we crown the Bears as the best defense ever. Lets also gauge the Hawks D vs the Bears O.
That matchup may be more intruiging.

Way to bring it 1st thing in the AM Jimbo. And nice work showing Chris Simms Spleen, The 1st official organ for the Lodge "Pic of the Day"

not sure you can give a shout out to an 0-4 Div 1A team playing in a BCS conference, but I suppose it is progress...maybe the Hawks philosophy is finally starting to set in...anyone...I'll at least give it to the 'Cos and an impressive win last night on the road vs. Butt Face and Homeless Belicheck...like we kept saying...Cutler-watch is on hiatus for another week...

Train, as you may well know, I am resuming dating. I have never dated a Filipino girl, if you would be a kind lodge brother and spread your contacts for a mixed filipino named Duke it would be greatly appreciated. I wonder if you had Shanghai Lumpia (all meat) or standard Lumpia (mixed vegetables and meat) ?

we were bound to cross into the biological blog-sphere soon enough...the seed of Phil finally gave me a reason...

And I'll admit that Spencer did look good, as did the Hawks entire O-line, best game yet, although I think the Jints D was vastly overrated (myself included)...they have troubless x two...

Another good point about the Hakws D vs. the Bears O...this just smells of a game that is going to be won in special teams and field position...like a classic SEC battle...I don't expect to see any drives over 55-60 yards...oh yeah...and Rex Grosman is still the worst starting QB in the NFL, that includes Johnny K and Daunte's Inferno...

Chris Spencer did a noble job... I just wish he'd cut down on the 3 false-start penalties.

I was happy for the Buffs on Saturday when they were doing a spendid job vs. Georgia and then... BAM! 0-3 on a last minute Bulldog TD. Gutsy performance, though.

Man, seeing Bill get all pissed has me all jacked up! Who-ah! My favorite part of the interview is Clinton's hody language during his answer to Fox News slanted questions. He was like a predator pouncing. Friggin rad!

Duke, I about to send out a mass email to my new found Filipino brothers and see if they have any eligible lady friends. Oh, and I had standard Lumpia

Yes, Joe BAM – WHAMO Bulldogs win w/ a 3rd string QB no less.

I am hoping for a sudden cold snap in the windy city and the Hawks game becomes a true old school smash mouth game.
