Lots of Hardware to give away! (Part 1)
As the season ends in the NHL, the hardware needs to be given out as well.
First of all, the awards that can be awarded right now!
The Presidents Trophy - This trophy goes to the team with the most overall points in the league. This year's winner is the Buffalo Sabres (113 pts). Last year's recipent was the Detroit Red Wings.
The Art Ross Trophy - This trophy goes to the player with the most overall points. Sidney Crosby wins this trophy this year. He led the league with 120 points (36 goals, 84 assists). Second behind 6 points is Joe Thornton, who won the trophy last year.
The Maurice Richard Trophy is given to the player in the league who has scored the most goals in a regular season. This year's winner is Vincent Lacavalier with career high 52 goals. This trophy is named after the first player to score 50 goals in 50 games, 50 goals in a season and 500 career goals.
The William M. Jennings Trophy is given to the goalie(s) playing a minimum of 25 games for the team that allows the least amount of goals in a regular season. This year's winners are Niklas Backstrom and Manny Fernandez. Together they allowed only 191 goals for the season. Backstrom also had the highest save percentage in the league with .929.

Is it just me or does the NHL have the LARGEST trophies in all of sport?
bigger the sport bigger the trophy eh?...and I think Train has a new favorite player in Manny Fernandez...no...no...I won't make the punch line...no...I won't do it....
