Return of That-Guy Wednesday Countdown to the Hall

...and we're back...so JK Simmons and James Hong have moved onto the semi's

Today's match up hopes to be a little closer with two Heavyweights in the Psycho-That Guy division: (and before we get to today’s contestants, let me remind everyone that since we have a 6 person panel now, I will refrain from voting unless absolutely necessary to prevent a tie-scenario, my hope is that we can get some non-panel votes in here to make it a true democratic election complete with hanging chad’s and my overturning Rehnquist decision) anyway here we go….

Psycho That Guy Match up:
Mr. Peter Stormare vs. Mr. Ted Levine

photo VS. photo

Let’s run through some career highlights and narrow down one quote from each contestant:

Mr. Peter Stormare:

Psycho Roles in Films Include:

*Fargo as Gaear Grimsrud

*8MM as Dino Velvet

*Bad Company as Adrik Vas

*Minority Report as Dr. Solomon Eddie

*Bad Boys II as Alexi

***Constantine as Satan

And last, but certainly not forgettable as everyone’s favorite Nihilist Uli Kunkel (aka Karl Hungus) in The Big Lebowski

“Perhaps there was something in the air tonight…Fernando…"from one of the greatest Swedish groups to ever water-down the music industry I give you one of Sweden’s biggest acting cross-over’s. Mr. Stormare has created a niche from himself for the past 15 years playing the psycho w/ an accent who still has the time for subtleties such as “pigs in blanket.” He adds to every scene the fear that he might genuinely be as sadistic as his character and for this he truly captures the art and nature of the Psycho That Guy. One quote to earn your vote:

“Hello. Mein dizbatcher says zere iss somezing wrong mit deine kable.”” Dat's vhy day zent me, I'm un exspert” Za, okay, I bring mein toolz.”

Mr. Ted Levine:

Psycho Roles in Films Include:

*Next of Kin as Willy Simpson

*Nowhere to Run as Mr. Dunston

*Heat as Bosko

*Wild Wild West ”Bloodbath” McGrath

But the two that really matter:

*Joyride as Rusty “Candy cane” Nail

&

*Silence of the Lambs as James “Buffalo Bill” Gumb

If Stormare is the perfect Psycho with an accent than I present the greatest Psycho w/ a baritone, Mr. Ted Levine. Although his list of Psycho film roles might not be as worthy in quantity as Mr. Stormare, I believe the quality of SOTL and JR speak for themselves. If Disney were to ever include a Psycho-path in the next installment of Aladdin I have no doubts that Mr. Levine would walk away w/ at least a Golden Globe.

Trivia: will appear in the upcoming film for Knight Rider, where he will no doubt present a Psychotic-tone that Kit and Michael can not possibly overcome.

One quote to earn your vote: everyone after me-

“It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told…It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again…Now it places the lotion in the basket.”

Now place your bets...

Mr. Peter Stormare gets my vote for late guy pyscho wednesday.

reasons being that he has one of the most classic scenes for me in a movie " the wood chipper " - there is a certain awe in seeing blood red snow and the dismembered body of Steve Buschemi. I wanted to kill the guy all through the movie....

PUT THE LOTION IN THE BASKET!!! Man, that line alone could get a win. Unfortunately, my excitement aside about Ted Levine playing the "Mafia Boss" in the new Hasselhoff driven Knight Rider movie, I'm still going to have to vote for Peter Stormare on this one.

Stormare plays a Bad Guy most of the time. While Levine has brought the most memorable Bad Guy performance of the pair (the aforementioned Silence Of The Lambs) with his Buffalo Bill role, Stormare has the longer, broader & better resume. In addition, he brings a great sense of comic timing to each role he's in. Which also pushes the vote towards the Nihilist.

With out seeing who people voted for, I'm going to go with Mr. Ted Levine. His two memorable roles in Joyride and Silence of the Lambs left me with a sick feelin' in my stomach. So there is my vote.

Gotta make the vote here for Mr. Ted Levine

Yes Jame Gumb aka John Grant aka Jack Gordon was a choice role. Levine gratuated and became Captain Stotlemeyer on the USA comedy Monk. (Very funny and underated show)

plus add in the brief appearance in Wonderland....the john holmes story. Anytime you can mix in a role that involves references back to Porno (See Boogie nights) then you get my vote.

Ted...come on down!!!!

However dont forget that Peter Stormare was also eaten by Compys in Lost World. Jurrassic Park 2. Anytime you get eaten by a dinosaur, you earn some of Gooses repect.

I gotta go with Peter Stormare. The guys awesome, and he'd get my vote for his Coen Brothers work alone.
And yeah, I'll admit it, I like Armageddon and Stormare was a big reason why.
Ted Levine had one good role in Silence of the Lambs, and that's really the only reason he even made the list. And to be perfectly honest, he wasn't even what made that film scary. I can think of a dozen actors who could have just as easily filled in with an equal or better performance as Levine.

well that does it...MCP pushes the pendulum to the Swede...although I would like to see the list of that-guy actors better suited for the role...not saying it doesn't exist...but, Levine made it memorable...you can't underestimate the power of the baritone...stay tuned next week for another installment of a that-guy/girl HOF match-up...
