Official Declaration of Conflict of Interest
I hearby proclaim that for this week. I will take no part in any conversation, prediction or smack talk concerning the Seahawks/Redskin game on Saturday.
I will choose 1 of two routes to take and will not reveal my choice to anyone.
1) I can root for the Redskins to beat the Seahawks. The Skins have been my team since 1980. When Jack Pardee was the coach, the team was 6-10 and they has a rookie WR from Syracuse named Art Monk. The Redskins. And one of my idols as a coach, Joe Gibbs. This is my team, will always be my team. Loyalty is part of being a fan.
2) I can alternately root for the Seahawks, knowing that years like this in Seahawk history do not happen often, I can root for the team that invited a young coach to scrimmage on their field, and who I stood on their home turf and held the american flag. The Redskins have 3 Super Bowls. Let this be the Seahawks Year. Maybe I honor the team that shares its home with me. I stood at mid field at Qwest this year...there is a Seahawk fan in me. I can honestly say they are my second team of loyalty.
Whatever road I take I will be happy with the outcome on Saturday.
Good luck to all and please do not take offense to my silence.
Goose

I'm glad you got that out of the way Goose...and just know that every post/comment this week should end in
"...and that's another Seahawk...First Down!"
-feel free to come up with your own, but the Redskins will find no love this week or any other week for that matter in the Lodge...I'm just glad that my Seattle Bretheren will unite with me in a cause to triumph over the 'Skins...that and I can openly root for Tom Brady to beat the Broncos with 15% of his heart and you know what?
....that's another Seahawk First Down!!!
I was waiting for the first shot across the bow of the Train's beloved team. I am going to let everyone talk about how the PATS are going to win but I am just going to wait until the game ends to start my talk but thank god this game in in Mile High....
That's another Seahawks fist down!!
So, are we going to watch the game as a team? Or can we not play nice and have to watch it with our respective sides? This is the most intriguing subplot outside the game next weekend. I vote for watching it together.
Goose, make sure you take that fence out of your ars before you get home tonight. You don't want to scare RJ or little AJ.
"& that's another Seahawks... 1st DOWN!"
First off, anyone not routing for the Hawks are probably guilty of the following:
1. They have no soul and a blackened heart
2. They probably cry at the end of every Julia Roberts movie.
3. They think Moussolini is a really good italian dessert, and shouldn't be disliked by so many people.
As for the Pat's/Bronco's...lets just be real about this. The Patriots only know how to do one thing: Win in the post season. When these two played each other last, New England was in terrible shape due to injuries...Denver's not going to have that luxury this time. It'll be close, but Denver doesn't have the heart or the talent to beat the Patriots.
And That's Another Seahawks First Down!!!!!
well done MCP with the previous matchup this year...and despite Bellicheck playing an entire secondary full of walk-ons the Pats still were in closing position during the latter stages of the game...you know why?...
everybody together...BECAUSE TOM BRADY WILL NOT ALLOW HIS TEAM TO LOSE...(unless the Defense gives up more points than he can score)...it will be interesting since this is the first real test the Pat's have had since Indy on MNF back in Nov....
2.0...ouch with the Fence comment...definitely causin' friction in the Lodge...I love it...I want some more of it...since Big D decided to have on of the biggest underachieving seasons to date since Seattle last year...I definitely go with my 2nd team (Hawks) followed by the Steel Curtain 3.0 (great game yesterday)...trickery always entertaining...and Goose, you know what sounds good to me right now
"...Alexander to the 10, the 5, TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS!!!"
1st and foremost Joe
Stick it up your ass.
In addition joe.
Stick it up your ass.
and third.
Take a first Down marker, With the wide end at the top, and stick it up your ass and yell "First down seahawks"
Jimmy. Id be curious what your attitude would be if the Silver and Blue had beaten Tampa and were on their way to Seattle?
Wow. So I guess we aren't watching the game together on Saturday. Jimbo, are you going to Ocean Shores (fabulous weather for a trip, btw...) on Saturday?
I'd still like to gather. Although I know that Kevin will be at the game and I can see Jeff finding tickets and going too... so that leaves me and the douche-loving Train.
well 2.0...for your information, they actually have TV's over on the coast...I know our Pennisula-living brothers are a little behind, but it won't prevent me from watching the game...and also if I waited for good weather to go to the coast, well I'd have to wait until.....August...plus its free so shut your yap...
Mr. Goose...my team had these very Hawks defeated with special help from grocery-bagging Jose Cortez and then we Coug'd it...what does this all mean...if Parcells was waltzing in here for a 2nd round playoff game...I'd be happy...my first choice would be the Cowboy's, but then there'd be that feeling that you're really apart of something if the Seahawks won...and let me just say this for the record...I grew up with the Seahawks in the AFC and the Cowboys in the NFC and the likely-hood that this sort of thing would happen was very remote...hate you Tags...
-"#2HWKSFN"
It would definately be easier if the Hawks were in the AFC. Then we could root them on Vs those hated Broncos
I agree, Goose. Are you going to venture up North for the game on Saturday for the matchup? What about joining me and the Train for the game on the tele? What are you leaning towards doing this fateful Saturday afternoon?
Sorry 2.0 I have plans for the game so i am out.
I could never root for the Hawks if they were playing the Broncos this week or any other week. It just goes againt what a fan should do. You stick to a team and that's it. You swear allegiance and you take what ever happens to your team... none of this oh, i would feel apart of something if the Hawks won. Blah... I just don't believe in duel fan allegiance. I guess I am a hard liners on this one.
Says the man who jumped on the bandwagon as the greatest Texas Longhorns fan!
Dont feed us crap and tell us its chocolate, Train.
To quote the train on a fateful Monday night at the lodge
"This may have cemented my purchase of a Lofa Tatupu Jersey"
Joe. If you promise to behave, maybe I'll have you over at the nest on Saturday
I am talking about if my team was playing my second team (hawks)...
Yes, I love the VY
Yes, I want a Tatupu Jersey
Yes, I have Season Tickets to the Husky's
It's times like these I wish you guys could see how flustered Train is right now.
...keep it up.
I think you need to provide play by play here MCP. Like the "Are you posting about me?" Blog you did a few weeks back
I love the hatred...I will be supporting my team and only my team. I can say, I have rooted for teams, but never rooted with my soul. The Hawks have always been the team to associate with. Train, what a load of garbage telling how you would never root for the hawks. I think you were capable of that a couple of Mondays ago. Well I'm glad I'm not conflicted and given what if scenarios...I have to say if by some chance it's Cos/Hawks SB train the gloves are comin' off and we are throwin' down!
Dude, i was talking about how i could only root for the Broncos if they were playing the Hawks... if it was a Hawks v Colts SB i am Hawks all the way. i just can't turn my back on my Broncos in a game like that.
Friggin' A The snake is my ICON for gods sake. Orange Crush forever kids.
This is like rivalry Week.
There is alot of passion in the lodge (Except for Joe 2.0, who is looking for a new bandwagon to ride...Question. Does Joe 2.0 get service pack upgrades to go to Joe 2.1 or 2.2? If Joe does something good does he get a 3.0 release? And if he has a kid is that Joe .25?)
Thats JAKE as your ICON??? I though it was some 70's porn star that you were idolizing.
Nice one goose...the rivals run deep...We are all facin' a rival in some form in the lodge...If you part of the Seahawks nation, any team you face this week is a rival...and if you are Jim, you hate the Skins out of shear spite...
Unfortuately that is Goose's team and I won't rip on him for bein' a fan...He has his declaration to protect him.
That's another Seahawks First DOWN!!!!
I've been keeping with the playful banter on the 2.0 namesake since my comeback to the lodge, but I think the 2.0 title will have to drop sooner or later.
Goose, I'd like to come down to see you and the kids this Saturday and will accept your invitation. Thank you.
And for the record, Train. I do think the Co's will beat the Patriots on Saturday.
13-3 in the regular season and Seattle still has a lot to prove in this next game. Goose may be right that it's the Seahawks year, I just love that the media is trying not to get too excited about it. Remember back in '95 and '97 when the Mariners were in the playoffs and it was pandimonium? It's like the city is fearing the worst and is just sooo gunshy after disappointing post-seasons that it can't get excited. Sad, really.
I for one am pumped (as I know the rest of the Lodge is too) for the opporunity for Hasselbeck to prove his worth (still winless in the playoffs) and show his growth and maturity attained this past year. Seattle is just hungrier than Washington.
The press keeps talking about the Skins having momentum, but similiar to my reasons why I think the Patriots will lose on Saturday, I also think the Redskins will lose because there so-called momentum were against sh!tty teams (WASH's 5 game winning streak was against teams with a sub-.500 combined record of 37-43 this year). The Seahawks are 9 pt favorite currently according to Vegas -- smart money would take Seattle even with that lofty point spread. Plus, Seattle is at home and not playing the Rams.
I don't think that you can compare the 'Hawks futility against the M's...(needs to be its own post)...I'd like to think the M's pulled a lot of smoke and mirror's...were I think the 'Hawks have finally put together a good blend of Coaching, Defense, Special Teams and Running the Ball...the four crucial things to winning...the M's...well I don't want to talk hometown 9 quite yet...
oh and...Joe 2.0 will now be known exclusively as the GIANT DOUCHE SANDWICH--- "Happy Birthday Buddy" ---from the Lodge
So this means that Joe is on the Bronco Bandwagon this year... Nice to see you found a home.
Do you know who else was a Bronco Fan?
John Denver.
Do you know what happened to him?
He DIED!!!!!
THAT JOHN DENVER GUY IS FULL OF SH&%T
Rocky mountain Hiiiiiiiigh!!!!....CRASH!!!
(Im so going to hell for that one)
