Brandon Roy: Pac-10 Player Of The Year
Big time props to the University of Washington's Brandon Roy. The UW Senior was named as the Pac-10 player of the year today in voting by the conference's 10 coaches. It's only the second time a Husky has won the award since it was instituted in 1976. Christian Welp won it in 1986.
Roy finished the regular season second in the Pac-10 in scoring at 19.6 –- but first when considering only conference games at 22.0 –- and also ranked among the leaders in rebounding (11th, 5.8); field goal percentage (4th, 50.9); assists (4th, 4.14); free throw percentage (5th, 81.9); steals (8th, 1.34); blocked shots (10th, 0.83); and assist-to-turnover ratio (1st, 1.82).
The UW is looking good going into the Pac-10 Tourney and is a lock for an invite to the Big Dance in a run to the NCAA Championship. To me, they should get a #3 seed right now, with a #2 seed if they win out in the Pac-10 Tourney. Of course, the East Coast bias is never more prevelent when it comes to College Basketball, so the Pac-10 will probably only get a #4 seed at best. But the Huskies hold their destiny and can earn the higher seed with an impressive conference tourney. I think the Pac-10 will only get 4 teams into the Big Dance in UW, UCLA, Cal & Arizone (barring a Wilcat collapse in the conf. tourney) -- GO DAWGS!

good recap 2.0...next time, just post a link to the article so we can read Candotta's words instead of the cliff notes...but good props to the best Husky BBall player I've seen in my lifetime...(yes, I wasn't following Husky BBall in '86)
damn, you took my Joke..
oh well here goes... in my best Judd Nelson voice
"Joe does Bob Condotta know you raided his news article..?"
No thoughts about the second half of my post where I lamented on the Huskies possible seeding & chances in the coming tourney's? Guess not... b!tches.
oh...I completely missed that?...really a 4 seed?...E. Coast Bias?...that's crazy talk...haven't heard anybody say that...come on 2.0, you're better than this baby...you're better
It would surprise me if they can get a two seed. I'd say even with a good showing in the conference tourney, they might be a 3. Although...2.0 if you are goin' to completely rip off an article...you might as well credit the guy...and then steal it...
Although, Kudos to Roy. He certainly deserves the nod. He did a great job getting this team to gel, especially with their collaspe toward the middle of the season!
Thanks Roy for staying one more year!
Also like to mention that Prep won the title and Spencer Hawes is coming next year...should be fun to watch!
look at Dude, riding the 2.0 bashwagon...still plenty of room left
I have to say I love having the Comcast college sports package.
Where else can you watch the finals of the Missouri Valley Conf, MEAC, PATIORT ect.....
