Glitz, Glamour & G-Unit

I can't believe ya'll are hating on the Academy Awards. The oscars are the awards for the movies. Movie stars, glitz, glamour... they have it all. The Oscars made the "red carpet" a staple at any party. Film stars and film makers being recognized for achievement in film. The big time for the big screen. I'm a big fan of movies and trash talk... which makes me a big fan of the Academy Awards & award shows in general. And yes, I agree with Train on the 6th Street Mafia... highest comedy. My favorite part of that was that most of the crowd didn't know what to do. Great moment.

I thought Jon Stewart did a fabulous job ripping on as many people as possible yet still remaining smart and classy at the same time. Sure, you might have needed to be up on politics and/or have a higher IQ to understand his jokes, but Stewart was great. Making fun of the "interpretive dancers" after each "Best Original Song" nominee performed (besides Dolly, who performed solo and even had the too-white crowd clapping on 1 and 3 at the end of it). They just needed to be made fun of. And Stewart came through for me.

Ang Lee deserved Best Director. I still haven't seen Crash since I'm usually that guy who doesn't see movies for the sole reason of going against the grain when everybody is telling me to watch or do something. I'm stubborn, so sue me. I'll see Crash eventually. This years nominees were the most deserving in years, in my opinion. With each nominee for Best Picture truly deserving of the award for the first time in recent memory.

On the fashion tip (Goose, you might want to stop reading at this point to avoid anger management classes) ... Ziyi Zhang, Keira Knightley, Uma Thurman, Felicity Huffman & Jessica Alba were the best dressed in my opinion (In that order). And I thought Charlize Theron looked like a tool with the bow explosion on her shoulder. Some people liked what Michelle "I loved you in Dawson's Creek" Williams outfit, but I was 50/50. Naomi Watts looked like a friggin skeleton & I love that Jack Nicholson wore his tux that he dug out of his closet from his 78 Best Actor win for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Rad.

It's been reported that this years Oscars dropped 10 percent in ratings from last years ceremony. But with a smart & funny job hosting by Jon Stewart, a rise from "That Guy" to elite status in Philip Seymour Hoffman, and "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" (Hustle & Flow included an amazing performance by Terrence Howard, for those that haven't seen it.).

"You know what? I think it just got a little easier out here for a pimp," Stewart joked after the performance. Great quote. And a great awards show. Of course, I'm 100 times more excited about The Sopranos season premiere next Sunday night... when the Lodge will move up to a new level after Season 6 starts.

The best part of the Mafia win was the fact that the cameras never panned to the audience. Wait, I think they only panned to Terrance Howard and Jamie Foxx – Anyone sick of Foxx yet?

There were a few bleeps from there acceptance speech? Is that a first? Anyone think the academy was about half a second from going to commercial.

I went to the Academy Awards and a SOURCE Music Awards show broke out…..

I don’t really pay attention to the dresses Joe so I can’t comment… I will say that Alba was amazing looking.

Oh and the Sopranos.... You mean the final season where AJ takes over????

So, we getting together for the show?

Don't we have to have a Lodge gathering for the premiere? I think it's required viewing for Lodge membership.

I know we'll get a comment from the Kennish sometime later today on the fashion... I didn't really expect you to comment on the fashion. No offense.

Stewart's joke was perfect after that and I'm sure he wanted to make more about the audience reaction but probably came to his senses. I actually made the joke, "Awesome, the Oscars just turned into the BET Awards!", when the 6th Street posse went up and started dropping F bombs.

Did anyone else notice how they cut off the final speech. that was cold. Its the grandaddy of all the awards and they cut you off in mid sentence....sad.

Goose, I too noticed the cut off on the final speech. Very cold. But I guess the statue can do her talking for her... "Um, have you met my little gold friend here. Yes, that's what I thought."

Jessica Alba always has it going on.

I'm down for some good ol' mafia & hold 'em. Who's going to host The Sopranos season premiere?

PS – I don’t want to let anyone forget about Selma Hayek and her supreme hotness during the Oscars

Train, I can always rely on you to give fashion props where most deserved. Salma Hayek had the most amazing dress by far. She's absolutely gorgeous pretty much all the time, but she really stood out because there were so few really outstanding fashion choices.
Charlize Theron needs someone to help her get dressed in the mornings. Honestly, she's pretty (in a generic way in my opinion) but what's with her fake-n-bake every year? And that dress was a total disaster. Blech.
I have to agree with you guys on Jessica Alba. She's really gotten good at picking dresses that flatter her really well and her hair was perfect! But honestly, she's starting to look Nicole Richie-freaky skinny. Her upper half was non-existent!
I'll stop there. Thanks for giving me something to comment on!

I have to say Alba looked good and still couldn't deliver her lines with a few flaws...just terrible...perhaps they can put her all the way at the end so she can practice a little more...
