Hawks add a LB
As the 9 pm deadline past, the Seahawks watched their 17th pick overall in draft in 2001 pack his bags and go to Minnesota. Who is he blocking for? They don't have a running game and not a decent quarterback. Why did he leave, well I think he has 49 million reasons. Do you blame the guy, no. He went to where the money is and hey if it's out there...why not take it. As long as he realizes that he won't be anywhere close to sniffin' a playoff or Super Bowl ever again, or at least in Minnesota, unless they get Jeff George back behind center. To answer my comments, the Vikings leading rusher was Mewelde Moore, and Brad Johnson was their leading passer. Moore had about 660 yards for the year. That is like three or four games for Alexander. Good Luck Hutch...you are goin' to need it!
Back to the reason I decided to write this post. The Seahawks sign Julian Peterson to a 7 year deal worth $55 million. 15+ million is in incentives. All I can say is wow!!! This was the one guy that I actually knew from the Niners and now, who do they have? Peterson is a year removed from Achilles surgery, so he wasn't full strength this past year but his stats break down like this: 57 tackles, 25 assists, 3 sacks and 1 Fumble recovery, (Thanks NFL.com) You have to figure his numbers will be a little better now that he will be full strength with the Hawks. In 79 games, Peterson has 399 tackles, 21½ sacks, five interceptions, 33 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Getting out my calculator: that is 79.8 tackles, 4.3 sacks, 1 int, about 6 pass defensed and just over 1 forced fumble, and under 1 fumble recovery for his career. I guess the hype is he is a good rusher on the QB and can defend the pass.
The Hawks are clearly trying to improve their defense which ranked 16th in the League. To the defenses credit, they led the league in sacks.
The Seahawks are still in the hunt for John Abraham from the Jets. I guess from what I have read the Jets have sured up a trade but the contract is another story.
So I'm curious, any thought out of the Lodge? I didn't think the Niners could get worse, but we'll see. I thought for a Seattle Defense, they were pretty good, and they have added some pressure on the opposing QB. Safety is still a question mark but perhaps they will fix that issue in the coming weeks.
One more thing, the curse of Bosworth continues and 55 will be put to rest because of the departure of Sharper. One more thing...Go Hawks! Along with SeatownShawn...I have signed on for next season, so it should be one hell of a ride. Bringing back the AFC West to the Northwest. I can't wait....when the Hawks left, they were bird do-do...and now things have changed. We are the pride of the NFC.

I love the Peterson signing. I think he'll be a great fit to the team. How can you not be intimidated by our linebacker situation now?
As for Hutch...I'm sorry to see him go, but I'm not worried about losing him. Ruskell has earned my trust, and we have the money to make some real improvements. Right now I see way more positives than negatives
First off Dude this was by far your best post. Complete with links and pictures.
Peterson is a great signing. I was a big fan of him while he was at Michigan State. For some reason I saw a lot of big ten games that year. The guy was great out of the blocks when the 49ers were a quality team. I believe he was a virtually pro bowler from the get go. Then he leveled off once the team started to lose anyone that was good and the defense went to pot. He started to get double teamed and I believe tried to do too much and started to over pursue and take to many chances. Now that he is here with a solid defense and two other linebackers that will demand more attention. He will be able to match up one on one and reek havoc. Great deal all around.
Hutch well he can kiss my latino a$$
thanks Train for the acknowledgement. I just want to help out the squad. A couple of other notes. Peterson's stats got him to be a Pro Bowl alternate so not bad for a crappy defense.
Kasey makes a great statement and with Peterson, Tutupu and Lewis, the team is lookin' tough at LB...
Unfortunately.....it appears as though we are officially out of the Abraham sweepstakes.....he is headed to Hot-lanta....
It's probably for the best. The Hawks can now focus on a couple of more spots they need.
I did see that The Bill have given Eric Moulds the ok the seek a trade. The hawks should show some interest in him. I dont know what he is looking for though.
Burleson or Moulds?
What about Me-Shawn?
You mean Nate B - the kid that was going to blow up once Moss left? Then he was never heard from again...
Side topic. Would you drink wine from a porn star? My answer is HELL YEAH!!! I think a bottle of this is a must at the next sSpranos gathering. (Yahoo article, no porn for those of you at work)

well...Nate B. is not a #1, which is what the Vikes tried to use him as...he wouldn't have that problem here...also, he'd be a little cheaper, and has less mileage and stretches the field a litte more than Moulds...Me-Shawn isn't a good fit at this point...you have one good possesion guy in Engram...another all around #1 in DJax...what you need is the guy who averages 18-25yds a catch...
Not sure if they'll have that wine at my local QFC, but it's worth a look. Thanks, Goose.
Moulds is a field stretcher with his speed... which is what the Hawks need. I'm down for trading a 3rd or 4th rounder for him. I'm not sure he's worth a 2nd round pick.
Nate would be a great #2. allowing Bobby to switch from #2 to the Slot 3, where he belongs
