Trent, the beautiful babies don't work the midnight to six shift on a Wednesday. This is like the skank shift.
So Jaynee has got a question for those of you in the lodge who've been to Vegas.
I'm headed down there for a week on Sunday, and I want to throw some money down on the Monday night football game against the Raiders. I've never really done the whole sports book thing and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations of places to go. Ideally, here's what I'm looking for:
1. Plenty of drinks
2. good screens/comfortable seating
3. Decent odds
Originally, a lot of people told me to go to the ESPN sports zone @ New York, New York, but I've actually heard odds-wise, it kind of sucks and that it's a pain in the @$$ to get drinks. So...any ideas?

You'll get better odds off-strip.....so it's up to you. There are a few places that I could recommend, but it would depend on whether or not you were willing to venture out into the real las vegas as opposed to the strip.
You can go somewhere just to lay down a bet and then go someplace else that is more comfortable to watch.
I'm totally up for leaving the strip. Downtown isn't an issue for me.
A week? Seriously? Well, first off, you are going to want to leave after 72 hours... guaranteed. Vegas only has a 3 day limit before you start feeling like a Zombie or wanting to check yourself into a rehab clinic or detox.
Goose is your man for the "inside" tips and recommendations... so I'll let him bust his knowledge when he reads this post.
Oh, and you have to take a night and take a cab to the old strip... the pace is slower and you can feel the classic vibe that the Rat Pack once walked the same square.
Yeah, I checked out downtown the last time I was in Vegas (which was also my first time). I actually kind of dug it. I totally get the rat pack vibe.
On strip
The two books that set the odds that the other casinos follow are Ceasars and Ballys.
Off strip downdown will get you more aggressive odds.
Where are you staying?
I fully agree with 2.0 about the 72 hour burnout period. You'll be done in 3 days and will end up doing little the last few days.
I think I'll be able to push through the whole thing. My only other Vegas trip was 3 days, and it basically just turned into a bender, of which I walked away with one of the best Vegas stories of anyone I've ever met.
This time I'm gonna try to take it a little easier. Maybe hang out @ the pool, or even do some tourist-type stuff (see a show, check out the sights, etc)
Remember as a roving Lodge report, Keep your eyes out for Funny things to post....
Also check out the Venetian out and Kick the ass of that midget security Guard I saw.
dont ever forget the wise words of 2.0, "Any story is more funny with Midgets"
Jayne.
Get the spread and the over/under and we can do a lodge breakdown....Greg Roberts Style...Straight up!!!!
I love that Goose is more excited about Casey going than Casey. Vegas, baby!
" Cause this teams folding like a Kmart deck chair "
Well if I could get any other lazy ass Lodge members to do a road trip we'd be saying "VEGAS BABY" when we are actually in VEGAS!!!!
The MGM/Mirage has the spread @ -7 1/2 (Hawks)
The over under is 37
Lets see...the Raiders offense cant move the ball and the seahawks defense cant stop anyone.
I see the defense stepping up. I'd take the Hawks to cover and the under
Seattle 24 Oak 9
THEY GOT THE WRONG TEAM FAVORED!!!...the Raiders take their third in a row in a Monday Night shootout 31-28...(I don't really believe that...just wanted to do my Roberts impression)
Nice Jimbo
Who will be going to the Monday Game?
I'm going. I'm taking Monday off work and wandering from pub to pub downtown for about 5 hours on Monday afternoon.....
The life of the Seahawk Fan...aka, "The Pub Nomad"
What, no Mr. Eko love on the lodge pic?
perhaps not everyone has seen...which is why he would be Friday...observing the 24 hour rule...Jayne...everything is proceeding as I have forseen...
plus B-Roy posting 20 against their I-5 rivals in his NBA debut will always trumph Network TV...sorry, these are the facts...
My personal vote would have been for a team phote of FC Kobvanhagen but that's just me.
OK
Point of order here.
Like any joke timing is crucial. If you keep using the "Other" blogger setting to change the name, it loses its level on the comedy scale.
Man sometimes its like Watching a Carrot Top marathon in here.
Yeah Bruno Kirby. Im talking to you.
"Who taught you how to do this stuff?"
"You alright! I learned it from watching you!"
Thanks for repecting the Lodge 24 hour rule for LOST...although Jaynee already ruined it for me
When's the 24 hour rule up on posting? or is everyone just working today?
I have no guilt in ruining Lost. You snooze, you lose.
Hell, MSNBC had it up 2 minutes after the episode error.
Episode Error?
I meant aired...typo
Well, Casey... it looks like you have taken the title of "ass" away from me today. Congrats!
Yeah...what can I say. It's lame to have to wait. The info was in a million different places on the internet minutes after the episode. It was talked about on the radio this morning.
I hate having to sit there & wait.
Maybe we should put a hold on talking about the Hawks/Rams in a couple weeks, because I'm gonna have to TIVO it & watch it later.
Maybe it's just payback for having to hear ever so tired "firefly" nearly a years after they stopped being funny.
But hey, you gotta respect the dedication. You go right ahead and keep beating that horse Goose.
Some Horses (Especially Dork Horses) need to be beaten.
And Joe, while I was slightly irritated with Casey for his Blunder, you will always remain the "Ass" of the Lodge. Its just who you are...and its why we keep you around
