Perhaps there is hope in the world...

While scouring the news wire, I came across some of the best news I've heard in a long time...yes...you can officially close the book on "The Joe Theismann Era on Monday Night Football"...and open the book on the talents and skills of former Eagles QB Ron Jaworski, or as people in the "industry" refer to him as: "Jaws"...

"This new lineup will enhance our presentation of 'Monday Night Football,' our most important property," Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president for studio and remote production, said. "Ron has covered the NFL from many different perspectives, and he is totally tied into the issues and trends from around the league."

I'm totally ready to go on record and say that I love this change and for anyone that has every watched PTI segments with Kornheiser and "Jaws", you know that this combination is bound to make those late season blowouts semi-enjoyable....

I commend ESPN for doing the right thing and finally destroying the last remnents of the Sunday Night Football crew including Theismann, Mike Patrick and the other annoying guy, which I've gone on record to state was the worst thing to happen to sports broadcasting since the Joe Buck was born...

This is a good way to start off my week...

I think Norby is the same one responsible for Champions League scores being given during the showing of the actual game?

I for one agree with Jimbo that this is a good move. Im not sure if Jaws is the answer, but he certainly can break down the game of football (Better than Joey Theeeesman)

I am not as giddy as Jimbo (who hasnt been this happy since 1985 when Joe's leg snapped like a pretzel), but I think this good for MNF

not sure if you remember the two MNF games last year, but Jaws and Vermeil were the color team for the second game and outperformed Tony and JT by a factor of ten...I think that this move is not only addition by subtraction, but it allows TK the ability to actually use sarcasim and wit the knowledge that the other guy is going to get it...

Theismann always seemed to have the same face Bush had when Colbert was doing his thing for the Media Dinner last year...

There is no question that Jaws has the ability to analyze a football game. I worry that he might not appeal to the Below Average "Casual" fan. We'll have to see. I for one welcome the change.

But isn't the "below average casual fan" exactly why TK still has a job? Theisman out of work is awesome. I just hope he tries to branch out into something else he's horribly underqualified to do... they could start a reality show around it.

But after I reread that last paragrah, I take it back... more of Theisman is never a good thing. Good riddance!

I don't think the casual fan will have a problem with the in-depth Jaws breakdowns...I think the casual fan is probably just wanting to hear three guys narrate the game with some good banter...something Theismann was never even remotely good at...and I welcome someone to the booth that is going to see something more than the obvious..."he throw, he runs, he catches, he blocks..." analysis...

I still cringe at the sound of him and Maguire going back and forth...these sounds will forever haunt me...
