Burning Questions
During the first Lodge gathering that I will attend next week during the upcoming Christmas season, please remind me to tell you a cautionary tale involving a member of the LAPD that the missus and I experienced last night on our drive to Santa Monica. I feel like it was a deleted scene in Crash. And to make things worse, I hated that movie.
But I have some questions that I need to ask each one of you. First, in the Big League today I have Drew Brees starting at QB for Team "That Just Happened!". With enough points to earn an admittedly mediocre victory over Aaron Vanderlinden - I have a few questions for ya'll: Would you sit Brees tonight in his MNF matchup versus the Hotlanta Falcons? Or do you start Brees and let the chips fall where they may? Does the Vick decision help or hurt ATL's cause tonight?
The second dilemma I am contemplating is which movie matinees do I see this week? [I wrapped up my classes this past Friday, leaving this week open to catch up on missed movie watching] I am planning on seeing a minimum of 4 films this week and am leaning towards (in order of preference) the Coen Brother's new flick No Country For Old Men, Guy Richie's just released Revolver, Into The Wild and Ridley Scott's gangster epic American Gangster. Which of these (or any other movies currently out in the main or cheap theaters) does the Lodge recommend?

No Country is a must see...I'm curious to hear your opinion on it actually...especially in regards to one particular moment.
Revolver was, dare I say it, a tad dissapointing. Maybe I just had hopes that were way too high.
I really, really liked Into the Wild, but the people I saw it didn't feel the same way.
American Gangster is really good too. I'm not a huge fan of gangster movies, but even I really enjoyed this. Ridley Scott is a master.
Other options:
I'm Not There - A must see for any dylan fan.
Gone Baby Gone - It may be hard to believe but Ben Affleck is a helluva film maker. Great cast, great writing, great directing.
Southland Tales - I'm not sure I'd actually reccomend it, but I found this film a frustrating, fascinating experience. I'm about 70% sure I loved it...
Lust, Caution - Ang Lee continues to redeem himself after the Incredible Hulk
The Mist - A pretty damn good Steven King adaptation, which I guess you would have to expect from Frank Darbont
no comments about the films, but I would like to mention that in the "Big League" you just barely made the playoffs as an 8th seed, and in about 9 hours will officially be in the off-season, working on your re-building plan...
snoogins'
Casey, thanks for the comments. I'm headed out to see No Country now... excited, to say the least.
No, Jimbo... in the Lodge League I barely made the playoffs. The Big League is the one ya'll quit because it was too competitive and/or you gave priority to the Lodge League. Which obviously wasn't a bad plan considering your good record.
The Lodge league = The Fantasy Universe
Having not known about any other league....I've gone ahead and put all of my eggs in one basket for the only league that matters.
...good thing I've got close to 30 points on the bench...oh, and you're still going to lose...
Oh....and I fully endorse 'Gone Baby Gone'. It's a surprisingly great, great flick.
Wow...all of a sudden I'm on fire...
Hollywood, I must say thanks very much for linking "The Big League" so that we can all get the wonderful error message "you are not allowed to view this page because you are not in this league", which further illustrates your discontent for the so called lack of competitiveness in the fantasy universe.
Second, are you suggesting that the fact that Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison today may actually have any kind of effect on how the Falcons play tonight? Do you mean like to what degree of awful they might play? When are people going to get over the whole Mike Vick/Hotlanta Falcons thing and just admit that they are a bad football team....with or without his dog murdering ass? If nothing had ever happened, they would be a bad football team with a dynamic quarterback...which I guess, gets you something in this day and age since nobody is giving much props to a few other playoff bound teams with some lesser known, non dog murdering QB's.
I chose to quit the the self-titled "big league" when it took 5 hours to draft a squad because some moron thought 14 teams would be a good number
besides, I don't put much faith in a league where you're moving on to the second round of the playoffs...
Derek "Non-Dog-Murdering" Anderson...playoff QB...
Shawn, you have a lot of anger built up. You need an outlet. Hug, or something.
You are not allowed to view this page because you have chosen an inferior league. (Error #152)
I have no anger built up....I just read your post and it pissed me off.
Simple cause and effect there buddy.
Now that you have been eliminated from the playoff hunt in the only league that matters, let's see about getting those Scousers blown out of the CL today at 11:45 shall we?
Oh, we will see. We will.
That was a satisfying match.
This is me resisting the obvious joke about you "satisfying" yourself while gazing at your Stevie G. Wallbanger.....whoops a daisy....didn't exactly resist I guess!
