Thinkin' about Retiring...guess again...

I heard this yesterday and thought it was pretty interesting. Jerome Bettis was quoted saying if that last carry in which he fumbled, would have prevented him from retiring. Funny, you would think he was looking at his whole career before considering to retire, not thinking about one play. So think, when you want to retire, ask yourself one question...Did I do my best on my last day?

I can see his point though. That was a big enough flop of a play, that it would have followed him for the rest of his life.

It would have been like former Red Sox Bill Buckner, when that ball rolled between his legs in the World Series. Fans don't forget stuff like that.

Off the top of my head the only Cat's I know that did there best on there last day were Teddy Ballgame and John Elway... Very rare that someone goes out in style.

Just ask Franco Harris how he ended up in Seattle...

or Emmitt Smith, or J. Rice...list is long and distinguished (2x I've used that in a week), but people would've remember that FORE-EVER!!! and there's nothing that Jerome could've done, even if he came back for 3 more season and won the rushing title in all three...now, we just remember Harper was running with a knife sticking out of his knee...

What if he did retire after that play? It begs the question:

Who went out the worst?
