The Week that was and a point of order for the lodge
Ok.
I want to cover a couple of things here.
1st.
Shawon (I kind of like that. SeaTownShawon)
I too attended the University of Arizona. Yavapai Dorm on Campus. Played Basketball in the Bear Down Gym with Byron Evans (Ex Philly LB) and Sean Elliot. Im going to ask you 3 question that only a person who lived in Tucson would know.
1) Where would one go to get a Grinder and a Fresh Fruit Slush? (21 locations in Tucson)
2) What is the Primary Menu item at Lucky Wishbone?
3) Who has the best Chili Dog in Tucson?
2nd. Dave Brown. A true class act. He will be missed. I am working on a post that will cover the 84 hawks and the 81 niners at the two greatest secondary units ever to play.
It was announced that the hammer will raise the 12th man flag. Good move.
3rd. John L Williams deserves his place. No disrespect to Mack Strong. But John L was the COMPLETE Fullback. Running Catching and Blocking. Strong is a better blocker, but please. Give John L his due.
Ok. Vegas Road Trip
I have chimed in my times and while we have all talked the talk, we need to walk the walk. I realize that there are different levels financially when it comes to how much one can afford. I pledge this in order to make it happen. Those who can afford to add a little more into the pot. Do it! Those who cannot. Dont worry about it and lets see what we can figure out. I say during the NFC Championship game we hold a lodge meeting to determine time off options and Lodge finances for a March Road Trip. We can maybe drive to Reno? Fly to Vegas? Stay in a Comfort inn While we are there. Lets do what it takes to make this happen. Lets save a little in Feb and March and do this!!! Vegas is Cheaper on a weekday. Hotel Room costs can be shared.
"The needs of the Many....outweigh...the needs of the few....or the one" (Thats my second Wrath of Khan diddy for the day). The memories that this type of trip will have will complete offset me tossing in an extra 50-100 bucks for someone else in the Lodge. Im talking about doing something with your best freinds that will be talked about for years to come!!! Lets step up and make this a reality. Let not look back and say, I wish we could have. No regrets.
Ok. Im off my soapbox

Oh .And Joe WON the XFL League!!!!
Take that Beeyatch!!!
Hey, not to rain on the parade but Jayne and I won't be able to do a March trip because of work - we have a new database starting up that month.
A march trip also conflicts with Jimbos birthday outing to Canada.
ok...my bday does take presedent, but new database?...WOW...does this database require you learn ancient Hebrew? conjure up the stolen plans?...let's play this one by ear...at some point in 2006 LV/RNO will be had by the Lodge, March doesn't work that well for me for points made by Train (sans the lamest excuse I've ever heard)...this is going to happen whether you're ready or not...we will utilize the 'Hawks battle cry as our motivation:
Theodore Hertzel -The State of Isreal- "If you will it...it is no dream"
Well i know it is rough for you to comprehend but yeah, we don't get vacation time during that month so that being said those are the breaks unless you want to find me a new job then you can harp all you want about it.
Well the time doesnt have to be definate. The point is to start talking. Nail down a date. Book it and be done.
"...you still got the number to that truckin' company?..."...the list of complaints for your job is long and distinguished...(that's my Stockton set up for whoever wants the slam)
****SLAM****
SO IS MY JOHNSON!!!!!
Wow....some nice Tuscon trivia. I was fortunate enough to spend my freshman year in the dumps of Apache Santa Cruz, but at least I was close to the rec center and the stadium.
Grinder and a slush = Eegee's, and the Lucky Wishbone actually serves shrimp. The chili dog is a bit subjective, but I suppose one would probably answer Wienerschnitzel due to the wide availability.
Now, my question to you is this: Where would you go if it was 2 A.M. and you needed a breakfast burrito? I only ask because it's the one thing I miss the most about Tucson. That and the scantily clad female population at the university.
I am partially impressed.
Good call on Eegee's. I actually worked there for 4 years.
As for Lucky Wishbone. They do have Shrimp and It is good. But Lucky Wishbone is the home of the Steakfinger (Train loves them steakfingers)
The Chili dog was tough. You need to have really good knowldge on that oone. Pats Chili Dogs is down on St Marys near Pima Community College. They are the BEST!!!
Breakfast Burrito....Hmmm thats a good question
I'd have to go Viva Burrito! They had the Best Chorizo. They were like 3 bucks!!
Hmmmm....1 for 3, that blows. I have to confess that I have never experienced the steak fingers, I'll have to give them a try.
Breakfast burrito, also subjective I suppose, but the answer I was looking for was Nico's at Ft. Lowell & Campbell. I remember pulling change out of the couch cushions on several occasions for a trip to nico's. My roomate used to tape stacks of dimes and nickels together to make it easier for the cashier to count. One time we gave the drive-thru guy so much change that he didn't even bother counting it. He just fired some Spanish cuss words across the bow and gave us our food.
God Bless Tucson, AZ.
Oh, and about Pat's Chili Dog's, I have had one before, but only once. So I didn't want to pretend like I really knew...so I just guessed.
I forgot about Nico's
Thats good eating. I used to rent a duplex at Ft Lowell and Swan. We went a few times to Nico's. Thats a good trip down memory lane.
