Watson coming back to his drafting home...

The days of Vitaly and Reggie Evans are gone. On ESPN.com reports that Earl Watson is coming back to Seattle as part of a three team trade.

Thoughts on the trade? I don't think it's a good idea..why would you bring a person back that you got rid of? The upside is that you got rid of two players that Bob Hill didn't like.

Well, first of all, the Sonics didn't "get rid of" Watson... he left for a bigger free agent deal than the Sonics were going to offer. My thoughts on both deals:

1) Vitaly never played and was a waste of space with Petro and Swift getting 20 minutes a night each in Bob Hill's "youth movement". He brings nothing to the table that Collison doesn't already fill.

2) Evans is a complete black hole on offense. And he's undersized when guarding the 4. Really, he's in there for defensive rebounding only. And since Nate went South to P-Town, Reggie hasn't gotten much playing time since the Sonics offense doesn't disguise Evans offensive weaknesses as much as it covered for them when Nate was running the show.

Nate leaving was the biggest mistake the Sonics have made since Calvin Booth & the slew of crappy center signings before him.

But basically GM Sund traded away three guys in Vlady, Vitaly & Reggie who weren't going to sign with Seattle in the offseason anyways. And there's no way the Sonics are making the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference.

Again not my expertice but I thought I would chime in on this one. I don't see a problem with bringing in Watson and getting rid of alot of dead weight. This whole team is a cluster F**K anyway. It's youth for the rest of the year. I just wonder how long Allen stays around for this. I can see him being traded next year.

I like the deal...for all teams really...obviously I'm concerned more about Nates group...which is already starting to reflect his style and hopefully sometime next year the wins will start coming...oh, and it gets the rapist out of PTown and into Mile High, where he'll be good for Karl off the Bench for D and O...for the Supes, it basically gives them two backup PG's at there 1, which I guess is good, now the Hobbit can go from 30+ a night to 20-28...

I think it's a good trade. Luke the Fluke isn't having the year that they expected....so anyone that can rest him a little is a great idea I think. Watson was semi-dynamic when he was a Sonic....so I look forward to what he might bring to the table.

The Supes are a team that is going nowhere right now.....man, just no real team identity or direction. Anything that might spark that in the right direction is OK in my book.

"Flip" Murray got sent to the Cavs for some guy named Mike Wilks & half of a million dollars.

Basically the Sonics gained cash in this one as Wilks makes $771,123 this year to Murray's $895,248. So the Sonics are saving dough. Hopefully it'll help them quit their bitching about there shitty lease on the Key.
