Two O's in Goose however there are seven O's in smoooooooth......
Before joe gets angy, I have pics but the blogger is having issues uploading them....
There has been a ton of NFL news this week that we have failed to touch on.
Being the resident Football Guy I figured a little ramblings and opinions by Goose was well overdue
Tags Steps aside
After 18 years Tags is stepping aside. He has done an amazing job seeing that before he became the commisioner, he was an NFL Attorney that no one knew. Now he will go down in history as maybe one of the great commisioners in any sport. Bert Bell planted the foundation, Pete Rozelle built the house, but tags added to the house, made is a mansion and tripled its value
Couple of things that stand out in the life of Tags.
1) Labor Peace in a era of strikes and turmoil in other sports.
2) The minority coaching era. He could have done nothing about this, but instead realized it was an issue and made changes.
3) The 9-11 Aftermath. The NFL became an escape during this crisis.. tags handled it with class and dignity.
Julian Peterson signs with the Hawks
I love this signing, however I worry. The FA Linbacker rotation has been more of a curse than a blessing in Seattle. Simmons, Sharper, have fallen short of expectations. I remember watch Julian Peterson 2 years ago in SF. He has all the skills, but his most amazing trait is the ability to cover recievers downfield. He shut down Jeremy Shockey in several Giants matchups. He can cover WR's just as well. In the Age of the slot reciever, having a LB that can cover in a nickel defense means fewer Dime DB's that you have never hears of (Hear that Orlanda Triutt? Your days in the Dime are numbered). The great thing about this contract even though it seems huge, its really a 3 year 23 million deal. Would you pay 7.7 mill a year to improve the defense? I think I may buy the 1st Julian Peterson Jersey when it come off the press.
T.O. Becomes a Cowboy
As we all know I hate the Cowboys. Am I happy to see TO in the blue and silver? This year, no. Because he will be quiet and keep his mouth shut. He will play and he is talented enough to play well. He will be a perfect citizen. But wait until next year. The mouth will not stay quiet. A storm is coming. How do Cowboy fans feel about the Man who disrepected the star at texas Stadium? While Im a big hater of the boys I became a George Teague fan that day. What he did showed team loyalty and I commend him for what he did.
Tony Richardson signs with Minnesota
This seems like a harmless signing but beware Mack strong Fans. KC Needs a Fullback. They didnt think they would lose tony. They may make a big push for #38.
Nate Burleson visits Seattle
Are you willing to give up a 3rd round choice for Nate? He is a restricted FA. 2 years ago he made 66 catches for 1009yds and 8tds. Hes a good 3rd reciever. shall we place a poison pill in an offer sheet and ship it back to Minnesota?
Why I dont like what Hutch did
Yes I agree. Family 1st. Hutch should have taken the best contract offer he could. Provide for his family. But signing a contract that had a poison pill and sending it back to Seattle was bush league. Much like a Trojan Horse, He may not have been the one to build it, he may not be the soldiers inside it, but he was the man who delivered it to the team appearing in good faith. "Here is your chance to match the offer" knowing it was a Trojan Horse. Goodby hutch. You'll never see the 49 mill. Thats guaranteed.

good post Goose...1st: as a commissioner of any league the goal should be to increase fan support and maintain franchise value...Tags did it via parity and TV $'s...the fact that a 2-14 team can compete for a championship next year (sans the Lions, Cardinals & 49ers) should be one of the greatest things about the job he's done...
2nd: don't want to kill the evaluation on Peterson too much...but, placing Pro Bowlers in their prime in a position to effect the pass-rush and pass coverage is ALWAYS A GOOD THING...ALWAYS...is he worth a Hutch...we'll review this after the first 4 games of the season...
3rd: TO in big D...I'm really not ready to talk about this yet
4th: Hutch..."The truth of the matter is that I wanted to have a contract extension done before last season, and certainly before the [transition] tag deadline, The Seahawks were either unwilling or unwanting to give me that contract, and Minnesota stepped up to the plate and offered it to me"...sounds like someone has a George Karl complex...don't call out a team because they're not going to treat a LG like Peyton Manning...if Hutch feels like Ruskell offfered 50cents on the dollar than that's fine, but the reality is that Minnesota just paid 1.50 on the dollar...take the money and shut up...its apparent from not only your Go Blue past in Ann Arbor, but your Larry Brown/ Dexter Jackson exodus that winning is a nice bonus to a ridiculous contract...
5th: Nate B. has the upside over Moulds at this point as mentioned in the post below, contrary to 2.0's man-crush on Moulds, probably stemming from a good fantasy run 2 years ago
Hutch's new Seatown name is 'Frosty Balls'....
Same # of syllables as 'Hutch-in-son', but much more fun to say.
Frosty Balls definately dropped his own ball with the Minnesota situation. If he wanted to stay in Seattle, he should have gotten the best contract he could have with another team & not had the poison pill clause so the Hawks could match. That would have been win-win.
But alas Frosty Balls tried to get greedy. And now he has to move his family to friggin cold ass Minnesota. The exact place I have to go on a business trip in 3 weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a Twinkies game with Soup while I'm there.
And Jimbo, when are you going to talk about the Cowboy's TO Signing? I'm putting the over/under at the season opener. It's like when your roommate might be drinking too much... yes, you probably should say something... but you are most likely going to not say anything and hope he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else. Terrell "AA" Owens.
Hehehehe. Joe's man crush.
Kevin Appier must be happy that Joe is now riding the Eric Moulds express
there's still a soft spot in 2.0's bed for the Appie-man and Griffey Jr...always...
Watch out...when 2.0 has a soft spot for you it's like having a stalker...he won't ever leave you alone!
