You probably have to buy a religious book or something just to get in the door.

Since Jimbo threw down the Gauntlet lets talk about the Redskins treatment of the former Dawg QB.

However. Jimbo. Rip the team and the owner, but lay off the Hall of Fame Coach. The man has earned his place in NFL History. And like Troy and Emmitt, Darrell Green and Arthur Monk, certain soldiers need to be respected in the War vs Dallas/Washington. Lay off my field general. They dont have to be liked, but show some class and give them respect. Maybe link the work "Coach" to Gibbs page in the National Pro Football Hall of Fame
http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=74

As for Brunell. He was paid more than any other team would have paid him, and was given more chances and shown more loyalty by Gibbs than any coach would have given him. Hell, even the Dogfather had a quicker hook for Brunell. (Speaking of which I need to make a post of my sincere lack of respect for Don James...that should get your blood boiling)

So your statement above has very little Truth. However why should I expect Truth or honesty from a Cowboy fan. (*Gauntlet thrown back*)

Woah Big Goosey Goose.....I've gotta say that the Dawgfather might be an untouchable when it comes to Lodgemate "opinion".

I didn't make the Lodge title page this morning without knowing that what it would lead to...

Issue #1: I take back including the coach, somewhat...Gibbs is a HOF coach, no argument there, one of the top 5 greatest coaches ever? I would say yes ( and that pains me)...However, he decided to come back into a League that had moved on since the last time he was on the sideline, and should not be any more free from critique as say...Parcells(which if you remember I roasted last Monday after his completely idiotic move to go for two in the first quarter).

Gibbs has failed to put together a team that can consistently score points or prevent other teams from scoring points and to make Brunell a fall guy for that failure upsets me. It's funny the parallel between Big D and DC this year in that regards. I think that Bledsoe and Brunell both gave exactly what they can at this stage in their careers and HOF coaches like Parcells and Gibbs should've know that coming out of camp.

As long as someone continues to compete and/or coach professionally they are suspect to critic from hacks like me and I think resetting the season at the half-way point with a rookie QB is an admit of defeat from both coaches, equally.

I am not criticising the legacy just 2006, just as I lambasted Coach Willingham after the worst Husky Football defeat ever on Saturday afternoon. You can use excuses of personnel and assistant coaches, but as a Head Coach in any league you are responsible for the play and outcome of your respecitve team.

Issue #2: I know the Don James story and I can't defend his actions for that specific story. As I'm sure that there are other stories from his tenure and post-tenure that are unflattering to the Dawgfather, but he left his coaching legacy intact and remains the greatest figure in Husky Athletics ever, that can not be argued.

Guantlet Addressed...and I want to be the Wizard.

Warrior needs food....Badly

And I feel a slight measure of your pain from Saturday. I expected more out of the Huskies and my 1st Husky game was a sour experience after 12:30pm (although a most excellent tailgate

I spent the 4th quarter on the Soccer field just north of the stadium, playing tackle football with the ganders. While the game was lackluster, my 4th quarter was quite memorable and filled with laughter.

I dont see Brunell as a scapegoat however he is part of the issues. He only threw 1 pass on sunday over 20yds and most of his passes were flares and screens. He has lost a great deal of his arm strength.

At 3-6. You need to see what Campbell can give you.

I think Romo was too early in the season, but as both teams search for the future, they need to discard some of the past. At 3-6. You basically need to go 7-1 to make the playoffs. Not likely.

I like to move to bench Brunell, not disrepecting what Mark has done, but I think the time to make a change has come.

No coach is above critcism. I just hate having Gibbs lumped in with Dan Snyder. Thats like Mixing tom Landry with Jerry Jones. Certain things just need to be sperated.

I'll give Don James his stature at UW, and credit him for the building of the program, but a legacy follows you every day you are off the field as well. And while he may not be the coach he once was, his wisdom could inspire another. I'm saddened to witness what I saw. James would be in Gooses "Top5 Coaches to break Bread With" list (Along with Vince Lombardi, Joe Gibbs, Ty Willingham, Oline coach Jim Hannifan, and Sid Gillman...Almost making the list are Bill Walsh, Mike Holmgren, Mike Ditka, Paul Brown)

Sad to see our idols fall from grace

I agree with you on the arm strength for Brunell...but you and I both saw that at the end of last year, so I'm not sure why everyone was surprised to see it again this year. I suppose I'm just pissed that the Cowboy D didn't get a chance to come after fresh meat.

I'm glad to know that the Ganders didn't have to experience the 4th quarter and you tied a horrible game with a good tailgate (the table made all the difference) and tackling drills. The Serling flock is always welcome in E1.

You're right, I should've used a semi-colon or started a new sentence between owner and coach. We share the same bitterness towards are respective owners, recognizing them as necessary evils, although at least mine has brought home championships. (sorry, that was like a one man assist).

And rather than a long post that will upset my friend Jimbo, I will tell my Don James story.

Years ago I was coaching Newport Youth Football. I had a group of 12-13-14 year olds getting ready to go to high School. Don James was invited and accepted to speak to our kids at the End of the Year Banquet. I for one was looking forward to don being at our table, maybe he could give me a little morsal that would affect me as a coach. But i was also excited about what this man would say to a room full of young football players.

Don James, The Dogfather, 40 years of coaching stepped up on the podium during dinner, looked out over a crowd of 150 kids who eyes were as large as 2.0's ego, looking at a living Washington legend.

He spent 4 minutes promoting a buisness that he was involved in (non Football or Charity related) and how people could get involved (Sending him $$$)

He stepped off of the podium and walked out of the banquet into his car and drove away.

No words of wisdom. No message to pass on to the youth of Seattle. Plug your product and go.

I for one would still respect him if he plugged and preached. Talk to the kids AND plug your product. you could have done both.

I lost all respect for Don James that day. Imagine the impact the Dogfather could have had on a room full of Seattle youth.

Eventually our heros become mortal

True. Your championships were delivered by the devil. I for one hopes Snyder sells the team to a respectable man who will bring the Skins back to championship level.

Or maybe I just have to make a deal with the devil...sigh. I hate Dan Snyder
