A little Goose History
So today I was going through the slow blog day and trying to think of something to post.
I was reading one of my favorite section of ESPN.com "Elias Says"
When Goose was a little Gossling, he was a Football Box Score Junkie. Sporting News, NFL Record and Fact Book, Everything I could get my hands on. It wasnt just who won the game, it was Who scored? How long was the touchdown? How many yds did he have for the game, how many yds does he now have for the season? Is that a team record?
When I gre a little older I learned about The Elias Sports Bureau. This would be Gooses Dream job outsite of coaching Football. Gather statistics for NFL games.
I visited the Pro Football Hall of fame in Canton, many years ago and was able to spend some time in their research library. It was like Jaynee going to a Serenity/Firefly Convention that women actually attend. It was an amazing place. My dad actually left me there for like 4 hours while he looked around Canton. Imagine a 12 year old boy sitting in a Huge Library in Canton surrounded by Pro Football historical documents. That was Goose.
Anyway I thought I'd give you all a little background before I tossed some elias stats at you. You may not care, but whats good about that is that If you dont, I get a No-No
Vince Young ran for a 20-yard touchdown and passed for one of equal length in the Titans' 28-22 win over the Texans. Only two other rookies in the last 50 years produced TDs of 20 yards or longer by rushing and passing in the same game: Chris Chandler (1988) and Fran Tarkenton (1961).
Saints quarterback Drew Brees was only the second player in NFL history to throw two passes in the same game that were intercepted inside his own 15-yard line and returned for TDs. The other was Donald Hollas of the Raiders against the Dolphins in 1998.
LaDainian Tomlinson scored three touchdowns in the Chargers' 38-24 win over the Rams, raising his season total to 11 TDs. It's the sixth time in six NFL seasons that Tomlinson has reached double figures. The only other NFL players to score at least 10 touchdowns in each of their first six seasons were Jim Brown (1957-1963) and Emmitt Smith (1990-96), who both did so in their first seven seasons.

Man, we should plan a trip to Canton. Wouldn't that be great... Oh, wait never mind.
That joke is as funny as well I can't say or Joe might cry.
Love the stats Goose and you should have titled the post
"GOOSTORY"
Goostory is too weird a word
And count Goose out of a return trip to Canton, Train. (Like we'd ever go) I have to keep my vow that I will never return until Art Monk is enshrined.
Damn HOF voting bastards
well each year that NFL QB's up their attempts becomes one less year that Monk is getting in...it's going to hurt that T.O. will be a first ballot over Monk (God it pains me to say that)
Jimbo. A comment like that affects the core of our long freindship...Just letting you know
I understand...I feel like kicking my own ass for even mentioning the HOF and T.O. in the same sentence...but hey...it's rivalry week...as big D breaks out the Blue Uni's in RFK
I thought Neil O'Donnell threw 2 INT's inside the 20 returned for TD's... or did Brown only take 1 back for a TD? O'Donnell's SB performance was easily the worst obvious throwing of a sports game of all-time.
Joe. You could never work with me at Elias
Larry Brown didnt take either pick back for a TD, but thanks for playing
Well joe is now a soccer expert so he might not remember any football info... PS Joe I'm just kidding
