Autumn Jazz Sessions
Although it may not feel like it, we are nearing the end of Fall. I know we're in the middle of pig skin madness right now, but I always go against the grain a bit. I like jazz very much when i'm outside of my electrofunk sounds - i may not be as much of an aficionado as some of you.
While surfing for work music I found a lot of improv jam sessions of "Autumn Leaves" on the net. It's one of those classic tunes that has become really international. I've heard it in English, French, Portuguese, and japanese engRish. I love the vocal version by Eva Cassidy with the sappy guitar. As always instrumentals provide those hype licks that make things jazz. Maybe I'm a little bias, I can't handle sax versions too well.
Keith Jarrett with some other guys.
and here's one more at the Waterloo Jazz Festival.

I like that Duke. It has a very soft relaxing feel to it. I was never a Jazz fan until about 5 years ago and im still learning about it.
Good Stuff.
See Lodge Variety. Its what we were built on
I actually like a sax version....specifically, Cannonball Adderly's version on "Somethin' Else".
A RIDICULOUSLY epic CD of a RIDICULOUSLY epic quintet.....Cannonball (alto sax), Miles (duh), Sam Jones (bass), Hank Jones (piano) & Art Blakey (drums).
I guess since it's a 'quintet', it's not purely a 'sax' version....but either way, do yourself a favor and get some. I can hook a brutha up if necessary.
