Goose's NFL OffSeason and Draft Predictions

So it seemed the Lodge was dead...and i wasn't even checking it daily until Train sent me a message about the resurgence. Now it looks like the flat lining Lodge may have a pulse, and being the resident Lodge Ball coach I figure we needed a little Football just before the draft. Lets also address some Off Season Football news as well

1. Jay Cutler. The trade itself will probably work out for all teams. Denver gets Three high draft picks and Chicago gets its 1st established QB since Sid Luckman. On a side note to Jay Cutler...quit your bitchin and whining, answer your F'n phone when your coach and GM calls, realize that you have only 1 of 32 NFL Starting QB Jobs this year and stop acting like a god damn prima donna. They explored other option. Big deal. Wait till your ass gets boo'd in the Windy city (Where you have no WR's...by the way)

2) TO to Buffalo. Hopefully the last stop in this Pain in the Ass career. Will teams PLEASE stop signing him?

3)Matt Cassell to KC. Man beware of this KC team in a year or 2....they could be REALLY good.

4) The 100 million dollar man....Albert Haynesworth. So on the 1st hour of FA in 2009, the skins sign Big Al to a 7 year 100million dollar contract. I as much as anyone value a big run stuffing DT more than anyone, I foresee three injury plagued years and a huge 2014 cap hit to the Skins when Al is released.

5) Corey Dillion Part 2. Fred Taylor is in New England...and he's pissed.

Now on to Goose's 2009 Mock Draft

I'll list TOP 5...then go over some general things to look out for in the draft
1- Detroit Lions: Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia
2- St. Louis Rams: Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
3- Kansas City Chiefs: Aaron Curry, ILB, Wake Forest
4- Seattle Seahawks: Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
5- Cleveland Browns: Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas

Lets talk Seahawks. 1st. I could potentially see the Hawks trading out of #4. Look for the Redskins to try to move into the top 8 to draft Mark Sanchez. If the Hawks do trade down, look for them to draft OT/OG. Then look at QB in Round 2 or 3. Also look for them to take a high choice for a BIG Cornerback. If the Hawks stay at #4. I think they take either Monroe or Smith...the top 2 OT's. Funny thing there is 5 or 6 mock drafts I saw and none of them show the Hawks taking the same player. Crabtree , Orakpo, Sanchez were all predicted picks. My choice if he falls past #3 would be to draft Aaron Curry. The man is a monster at LB. They could still end up with Sanchez...but I have my doubts.

Denver- may be one of those teams looking to move up if Sanchez drops around the 8-9 spot. If not look for Denver to draft defense. Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU or B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College.

Dallas - Dallas traded its #1 to Detroit in the Roy Williams Trade. They will have a hard time rebuilding this year after that trade, losing 1st and third rd choices.
Its nice to see the Lodge making a comeback. For those of you interested. I am looking for some new coaches over at Newport. Start putting your Football knowledge to good use.

Jim McMahon doesn't count as an established QB? The Superbowl Shuffle, an eye-patch, and bandannas are involved in his legacy, for crap's sake!

I'm content with a Mark Sanchez pick, if only for Train's sake in finally having a non-placekicker NFL player to root for that share's his Mexican ethnic roots. But I do think he's the best QB in the draft and that Stafford is overrated.

That said, I agree if Aaron Curry falls then it's a no-brainer and they should draft Curry to fill a starting LB position of need. I'm excited though!

I just read on ESPN: "John Clayton says Seattle will likely take Michael Crabtree over Mark Sanchez because Matt Hasselbeck has at least a couple of years left and they want to keep him happy."

We have 4 picks in the top 48 we should do well. Plus, your Mr. Snyder is going to go all in for the Dirty Sanchez.

I'd love to see Denver get The Dirty one but our Defense needs an overhaul. I want T. Jackson from LSU and then pick up one of the USC backers.

I have to agree with The Lodge Ball Coaches assesment of Jay Culter. He can't have it both ways. You can't demand a trade after Shanahann is let go. Then find out your being offered up later in the offseason and whine about it. I'll miss him, but there is a new man in the Rocky mountain state and he doesn't need his spleen to play! Now that's dedication.

#1 Good to have Mother f'n Goose back in this

#2 Good to have Mother f'n Goose back in this

#3 Jay Cuts...regardless of what happened in the Donkey backroom, here are the facts: Age: 25/26 Pro Bowls: 1 in Top 1/3 of NFL QB's: Affirmative, times you could say this about a Chicago Bear/Denver Bronco (w/o last name Elway)? 0

I understand that he's moving away from Marshall and Royal...but he's also getting about the same level line (maybe a little better on the run block)Devin Hester (at this point a slightly less refined, but more athletically gifted Royal)Greg Olsen at TE, and more importantly...Tulane's own Matt Forte...is that offense going to lead the league, no...but it'll reduce the number of minutes for one of the top 5 D's in the league...

Denver? well you have draft picks and a rookie HC, who so far doesn't appear to have a grasp on the job...in 3 years or earlier this might all work out in the Donkey's favor, but as it stands now...they gave the Midway a much clearer path to the playoffs

Rest of the draft? Hawks have to be trying to deal #4 and if they don't they're trying to play the smoke-screen game to get Curry, who is the only natural fit for the team...if not on Curry, the Baylor-grad and natural Ruskell-character guy Jason Smith is a solid pick, even if he doesn't have a starting spot next year...to put him behind Lock and Uncle Walt would only help his cause in the upcoming years

Crab/Dirty San? not even top 20 picks if this is last years draft...

Crab - undisciplined route runner that is going to need a good/great QB and a free flowing system to operate in (see New Orleans, Cincy, Miami, etc...basically a NON-west coast offense) other drawbacks include lack of break away speed and height = lots of ? marks...this isn't a Randy Moss situation were the character issues masked the physical gifts...I don't think the physical gits make this guy a #1 receiver, therefore hard to justify a top ten...

Dirty-San - as much as I'd like to have a 'Sanchez' at QB in the NFL...just not sure how this works?limited resume: check, lack of height: check, USC making average players look phenomenal: check...this is obviously my Trojan bias, but I don't see this working. That being said...I sure hope that Snyder mortgages the next 5 years of draft picks to get this guy

The NFL draft...where Alex Smith was once a #1 draft pick...

I think the Hawks did a great job hiding their true intention. I think the trade for Unger did a great job setting up next year as well. If Hasslebeck is on the decline, they have the ability to draft a QB late in the first round. I wondering if the Hawks get a cutback from promoting Sanchez up the draft board. Who's hand do you shake when you get that WR Bey to the Raiders...

Again - nice job Hawks! Thanks for not getting Sanchez...

If possible, try games out before you buy them at your local library. Most public libraries offer video games that can be checked out for free. The library usually has game titles for all different systems, so simply call ahead and see if they have the title you want.
