I'd be remiss not to mention the weekend....

"...Hailing Mary and she answers the phone!"..." great quote from the voice of the Dawgs, no not Chuck Nelson, from the most memorable game this season...I'd like to take second and do my second honk post since the Lodge began, because when your Pac 10 wins come once every two years, you have to get your money's worth...

First, ...Condotta pointed out an interesting parrallel this morning when talking about the "bomb" and "the three" that turned Husky BBall around two years ago in Oregon State...I have to say the correllation was running through my head shortly after the game and as the article states, it only matters what you do afterward that makes a moment memorable, however:

1) "Just look at the schedules!"
the ability to work through your problems via games is a huge advantage for bball over football...you get 18 conf & 9 non-conf to get your team going during the NCAA bball season, so seemingly you can hit a stride, stumble, hit a stride again and stumble all in the course of a season, Football allows you to gain momentum, but to get to an elite level you stumbles have to come at the right time and a lot of luck needs to be involved, unless your Texas or USC

2) Dial "M" for Most overused motivation going into the off-season: momentum
Look if the Cup come back to where it belongs on Saturday no one is wearing a better poop-eating grin than this guy, well I can think of a couple of others, but that in no way effects the way you play in August or September of '06 does it? what's the cap on momentum during the off-season...doesn't it last really until the SuperBowl than its about dedication to building your temple and all that other BS and subsequently to you think SC or Texas is going to slack off in the off-season because either of the two won out with the trophy, exactly...not buying this reason

3) Coach, what "winning?"

Here's to the genius that drafted an athlete who played QB in HS that only won one friggin' game...here's the deal, not saying the player can't develop into a Heisman canidate based on his HS preformance, but ...wait a second, yes I am...any quality QB that is recruited to a Pac 10 school should be personally responsible for at least 4-5 wins in High School, this is mandatory, not an option, you think Ferndale High is suddenly the next dominant force in Washington High School because they've built the system?...this could be true, or it could be that Jake Locker has the intagible element of knowing how to win...sound good enough...I thought so...

**that '04 BBall team had enough Beach guys to know what it felt like to walk with a little swagger and know about how to put things away when you needed to...which is also why I'm a little worried this year, we have the players, but I've never seen a college player with higher intagibles than Jr. Robinson...but hold on, we'll right that post when we need too

So that's just a couple of differences that I see between the two most memorable plays in Husky sports over the last two years, and hell, I hope it goes down as the game changer, I just don't know if you can put value until the chain reaction is shown...

so I guess: for other recitings of other people's idea's tune into my weekly TV show were I hang out with Creed and Scott Weiland and kick around ideas for our next cover album

Apple Cup thoughts and reflection on the Wash/Ariz game

You all know my feeling about Coach W. This is a man I would walk into battle with. This is a coach of integrity.

I am a firm beleiver in Learning how to win (and to lose as well) The win vs Idaho is nice but it is expected. Little effort had to be put forth. In order to learn how to win you need to win a game that you are not expected to win. Arizona upset UCLA last week, not on a last minute FG. But a 38 point blowout. Going in and beating Arizona I feel will catapult this team not only this week but next year. A valuable lesson was learned on Saturday. And the bomb to Chambers made my list of the top 5 throws of all time. 68yds in the Air without a spirial landing nearly perfect on the inside shoulder of a reciever IN STRIDE! Plus the 28yd td run by Stanbeck showed guts on a 3rd and 5.

This team will win the Apple Cup this year. Yes you hear it from Mother Goose. And this team will be 5-6 or dare to dream 6-5 next year. And we will all be going to the Emerald Bowl in San Fransisco next Dec 30th. Mark your calanders.

I'm with you Goose, I think this team is close to making the turn and if Isiah has the Senior year close to what I saw last week, we're making the progress coach is talking about...fundamentals...importance of positions: QB, RB, LT, WR, Oline: you know, I know it...too bad Slick Rick never did
