TORA TORA TORA
65 years ago today that quote rang out from the Empire of Japan and two hours later battleship row in Pearl Harbor Hawaii was all but completely destroyed. The Japanese air raid destroyed or damaged 21 ships and 320 aircraft; it killed 2,390 people and wounded over 1,000 people.
"We're like the dodo bird. We're almost extinct," said Middlesworth, now an 83-year-old retiree from Upland, Calif., but then — on Dec. 7, 1941 — an 18-year-old Marine on the USS San Francisco. We are witnessing a passing of a generation. For the past 5 decades the men who fought in the opening battle in the war against Japan have met to remember there fallen brothers. These man are nearing there 80’s and 90’s. This could very well be the last time these men meet at the foot of the USS Arizona.
Unfortunately thanks the Michael Bay youngest American’s think the Battle of Pearl Harbor was a love story. Damn you Michael Bay and your horrible film. These Films hand selected by me will help the youth of today remember the the men who fought against tyranny because lets face it most kids hate reading about history.

See Train. This is your calling. Bringing history to the masses. Hell you get misty eyed playing Call of Duty on the PS2
Im loving the fact the Lodge is picking up in the last week with different posts from different folks. This is when the Lodge runs as a well oiled machine
great movie list. I loved Sands of Iwo Jima.
Honerable mention would have to go to 12 Oclock high, Patton, The 1st 20 minutes of Saving Ryans Privates, The Guns of Naverone (Follwed by Force 10 from Naverone)
But I agree with you. Watching midway in a Hotel in vegas tops all
I was considering a history post for this myself today, but I decided to give alternative Hawaiian news today.
What? Windtalkers can't make the cut? *syke*
I'll follow Chuck Heston to war anyday...and then go double-down...
