Bowl Pick of the Day....

Poinsettia Bowl

Navy vs. Colorado St.
Waste of Time? Not if you are a true fan of the Option. Navy is making it's 3rd straight bowl game while Colorado St is back after missing a bowl game last year. This game looks to be a shoot out. The Middies have the nations number 1 groung game averaging 305. The Rams look to go to air first. Justin Holland and David Anderson will be playing pitch and catch. Anderson has over 1000 yards Receiving and Holland has cut down on his throwing error. Navy might make this a track meet considering that the Rams have the 104th ranked rushing defense. Look for Navy's Lamar Owens ( led the team in passing and rushing) to execute the option to near perfection. This might not be a marque matchup but if you are looking for a good game during the early weeks of the bowl season you might want to take a look at this one. You can't beat the Honor and class that Navy brings and a Ram team that will be ready to play for a win and respect after a down year.
Star Rating
**1/2
Train's Take
Until Goose writes that book on how to stop the option don't look for a denfensive battle in this one. Look for Navy to control the clock with that run attack. The Rams are going to get there share of points but they like to air it out and they can't afford any turnovers which will force them to play catchup and they are not a team built to come from behind. Look for Navy to shut the door early on this one.

Taking the title of the "the poor-man's Holiday Bowl" I definitely take Navy here...they couldn't look for a friendlier Bowl placement than San Diego, even if this game was played in Annapolis...L. Owens was by far the class of last Saturday's Army/Navy matchup and Navy going against a 104th ranked rushing attack doesn't bode well...

determining stat of the game:
if CSU can someone prevent the TOP from being 2/3 for Navy, than they might find a way to win...bottom line: CSU defense can't have 5-6 guys with 10+ tackles...
