Everyone take a step back...I need to geek out for a second.
So Sony just released the Teaser poster to Spiderman 3 14 months early and it's AMAZING!
Now, that's not a black and white photo. That's actually Spiderman in a black costume, which can only mean one thing: The villian that Topher Grace will be playing is going to be none other than Venom himself!!!!!!!
None of the lodge may care, but that's huge news. I was on the fence about having Venom in this flick, but once I caught a glimpse of this picture, I'm suddenly as excited as Goose at a Flash Gordon convention. Knowing that they're at least gonna intigrate the black costume into Venom's story aleviates a lot of my aprehension.
This movie is going to rock the casbah!!!

Ok. MCP Im going to ask you a question and I want you to keep a level headed geekness when you answer because if you go too "Geek" I will zone out.
I like spiderman but am not a huge comic book guy. What does Venom and the Black Suited Spiderman get you all jazzed about?
**ducking**
I'm goin' to act clueless to and ask the same thing...
(Hands over my face)
Ok, Jayne won't be around for awhile today so I will play the resident fan boy.
Here goes. Not sure if I am getting this right. but here is the jist.
Peter Parker got his hands on a suit and alien suit which responded to his thoughts. He found out that the suit was bad and trying to take over Peter Parker. He was able to get rid of the suit but the suit somehow got into the hands of Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) a daily bugle reporter who was an enemy of Parkers because Parker found out he was writing false news stories. The suit bonded with Eddie and he accepted the transformation and since then he and Spiderman have been enemies.
I am sure there is more to this then I can remember so Janye correct me if I am wrong.
I am going to take a nap after that geek out. I felt like the hulk.
YOU WONT LIKE ME WHEN I GEEK OUT
that sounds about right...Geek Boy
Thanks for the vote of approval Jim. I am sure I messed something up which Jayne will chastise me for.
Sweet Poster. Topher Grace as the bad guy?
As far as I know there are agoing to be two badies in this one.
Topher Grace as Venom
Thomas Hayden Church as Sandman
Great site, Shawon. Topher as "Venom"? Curious choice. I think he has the sensibility to pull off a comic book character, but I'm not sure he's big enough. Venom was a huge dude. At least Thomas Hayden Church has a build to him.
2.0...also sizing 'em up...I think Topher is a great choice...he has a smirk-sarcastic side that I think could turn to evil like young Yegor...
Regardless of current doubt....if the 3rd is anything like the first two, then it will be sweet. I like Topher, so it will be interesting to see how he pulls it off. I would rather watch him than James Franco...that guy bugs me for some reason.
I am by no means a Spidey-geek...but damn, I really enjoyed those first two flicks. I'm glad to see that they are keeping the whole production crew and cast together....It's not like they can't afford to do it. The first two Spiderman movies have grossed between 1 and 2 BILLION.....
That is why I am a little scared about X-men 3. To me it's never a great sign when the director leaves. I am not sure how great Brett Ranter will be with directing to me that's like getting MCG to direct. It would be same if this fails since this francise has some much going for it. X-men 2 was far above the first.
If you'll allow me to properly 'geek out'... Spiderman originally got the Venom symbiote costume while participating in the first "Secret Wars" story arc, a series of intergalactic Marvel crossover series. He was hanging out and bitching about how his costumes always got messed up and Aunt May was getting pissed about all the sewing. So a couple other heroes, while still in space, were like "Hey there's this kick ass machine that gave us awesome unrippable gear dude!" So Peter Parker goes off and finds some machine that looks like it could have been from Macy's in Shiar empire and stands under it. A little gooey ball pops out that could have been Klingon diarrhea, it even set off the spidey-sense. Well Peter Parker decides to rub it on his body and it oozed on him becoming what seemed to be a costume. Can anybody say "d'oh!"? It's not until Mr. Fantastic decides to use his gadgets on Peter that he figures out that it is actualy an evil symbiote that feeds on his adrenaline. Peter was getting concerned that he was getting too aggressive with the suit, and looking too hot with all the ladies. But allow me to digress...
The Spiderman suits to date in the movie series have been really cool. But they need to incorporate the giant white spider that spans across his abdomen just like that comic book and i hope that oozey aspect of Venom's projectiles is maintained. Somehow they will twist it I'm sure. Just like they morphed his clinging power into claws, which is really from the alter-verse series of Spiderman 2099. Marvel spun off this series when they were struggling and wanted to revamp their line in the face of the indomitable Image Comic line release. Too bad in the real Spiderman his clingy power is an intangible gravity grip that has never been broken between his body and a surface ever. Not even the Hulk could budge him.
Damn, I think we have a battle brewin' between The Duke and Janye to see who might be the resident geek of the Lodge.
I am impressed Duke
and also.... there have been THREE incarnations of Venom so far. This of course excluding his progeny Carnage, a red an black oozey bad ass villain.
From Duke to Dork in 12 easy steps....
Is Carnage Venom's son? ....that website kind of insinuated such....
i think carnage is a girl, just like goose.
Thats a bold statement coming from a man who dyed his hair purple.
Feel free to insult me when you spend less time at the beauty parlor.
you had to go straight for the hair huh... the only place my strength can be diminished.
Hahaha. Its all good. The beauty of the lodge is....You can rip on someone, but know that the Lodge always has your back.
I may insult your manhood, your hair, and your favorite movie if it is Serenity. But once you are a Lodge Member, you are a brother.
Unless its Joe and the MCP. I predict that one day the rivalry will grow so heated, that it could split the loyalties of the Lodge....and begin, a holy war, will. (My best yoda voice)
Well, if it comes down to a fight. I wouldn't bet against the Dutchman. Has TP ever won a fight that wasn't played on a joystick? Has Jayne ever been in a fight... period?
I'm not sure it'll ever go down though... because I would never fight a girl.
2.0 has a "History of Violence"...seriously though 2.0, I'm glad you feel the need to play the enforcer, but from my days on the playground, I found that the geeks have the most bent up rage...and well...your Dutch...not necessarily known for their fighting prowess, but they can make Lager...
And we can design and paint the sh!t out of things.
true that...
